Democrat Andrew Gillum has a 5-point lead over Ron Desantis (R) in the upcoming Florida gubernatorial election, according to a poll released Tuesday.

The NBC/Marist Poll found that 48 percent of likely voters surveyed said they would vote for Gillum if the election were held today, while 43 percent said they'd support DeSantis. Seven percent of those surveyed said they remain undecided.

Results are expectedly skewed based on party affiliation, with 90 percent of Democrats backing Gillum and 86 percent voicing support for DeSantis.

I agree, I live in pasco co. fl and I will say Desantis has run, to date, one of the weakest and ineffective campaigns I have ever seen....in 4 weeks early voting begins...I hope things change

Is there an elephant in the room? There is a reason his numbers have faltered. De Santis needs to patch things up with President Trump for turning on him and pandering to the Democrats on their stupid fake Puerto Rican hurricane death toll that went from around 60 to over 3000 a year later. Then he needs to beg for President Trump’s help.

Gentle suggestion: before anyone has a kitten, check out the poll’s methodology.

My family has been in Florida since at least the 1700s.

I really wish we could sell everything South of Orlando to New York.

Yep if the President came here and did rally in the south, Tampa, and then JAX area then DeSantis wins, but DeSantis needs to ramp his campaign up

Just the SE should go, but Orlando is becoming like a foreign country. When I leave St Augustine, St Johns county I want to get back here quick since it is mostly republican, and English speaking.

Wouldn't it be better to deport all the New Yorkers and New Jerseyans back to their guano holes they abandoned after ruining their own states with taxes and regulations?

I've lived in Florida for a while now and what I've noticed is lots of transplant libtard morons from the northeast who need to be deported, lots of good transplant conservatives from other states we need to keep and very conservative Florida natives who are great and form the backbone of Florida.

August 12, 2016:
Democrat Hillary Clinton leads Republican Donald Trump in some of the most diverse battleground states – including by double digits in two of them – according to four brand-new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls.

In the key battleground of Florida, which President Obama won in 2008 and 2012, Clinton is ahead of Trump by five points among registered voters, 44 percent to 39 percent, with the rest saying neither, other or they’re undecided. (In the same poll before the conventions last month, it was Clinton 44 percent, Trump 37 percent.)

For those wondering about this poll. Gillum has been blanketing the state with very effective warm, fuzzy TV ads that make voters feel good but ignore his radical leftist politics.

DeSantis is hardly running ads and the rare ones seen aren't making a difference. DeSantis hurt himself out of the gate with his stupid 'monkey' comment, while Gillum was peaking as a primary candidate and has followed through into the general.

Rick Scott, who got off to a great start against Bill Nelson in the spring, has been hurt by the Red Tide on the Gulf Coast. He has also spent an enormous amount of time on Puerto Rico to mixed results.

It’s sad when libtards from these sh!thole states flee their sorry states for nice places....just to turn their new home into another sh!thole state.

Doesn’t make any sense...but, then....that’s why they’re libs.

Wow Marist as a polling org (and as a learning center) has really underperformed in this century. Just utter garbage stats under the hood, yet again.

Every election year I try to be nice about this, but if bedwetters can't grok poll manipulation, then don't be a bedwetter...It's a shitty RV poll based on 2008 outcomes (certainly Florida 2010, 2014, and especially 2016 don't match up to any of these ratios)

RV 89% +/-4
LV 64% +/-4.7 WORTHLESS. You know what MOE -4.7% means? It means Marist is showing its ass, it means that Marist again willingly manipulated their shitty poll as written in their contract with NBC. It means that the MOE of 64% of Likely Florida Voters is +/-4.7%. Gee I wonder what the other 36% THINK, YOU THINK?

But hey, let's drag Marist for a while what the hell..
