“Their best guess, she says, is that there was some kind of mistake in coding, where an incident involving something like a pair of scissors (California Education Code 48915[c][2]), for example, got inflated into one involving a firearm (48915[c][1]).”
The old 48915[c][2]/48915[c][1] scissors/gun switcheroo. Yup, happens all the time.

Coding error by mistake or on purpose I don’t trust anti’s not to lie.
Hmm....when we got bored with Rock-Paper-Scissors we added Gun and I think Match. Let’s see...Scissors cuts paper, Rock smashes scissors, paper smothers rock.
Match burns paper, Scissors cuts match, match fires gun, rock smashes match.
Paper outlaws gun?, Gun shoots scissors, match fires gun, gun shoots rock.
The other thing to worry about is kids eating pop-tarts into the shape of a gun, or molding one with clay, or carving one from a bar of soap.
