The passing of anyone prominent in politics gives the news media a chance to reminisce and swap stories. Not all of the stories were favorable to McCain and some were interesting.
It also provides an opportunity to quash (or start) rumors -- a chance to show another side of what happened. The idea that McCain wanted to or expected to lose to Obama all along, for example. McCain thought he had a fighting chance until the economy tanked.
One final thought: if it ever happens that direct election of senators is repealed, it will probably mean more McCains, not fewer. Senators chosen by state legislators would be more likely to be establishment candidates, but also more independent and less likely to follow ideological movements and trends, because their bases isn't voters, but legislators in state capitals.

No dismemberment. Syrupy testimony, throwing around words like “maverick,” “irascible” and “bipartisan” like a two-year-old with a set of Legos. When my head started vibrating and I was about to make a McCain joke, I switched it off.
Are you as sick of this wall to wall Saint McCain coverage? I don’t like to say ill of the dead but... What are they going to do—three days of mourning like they did with JFK? Will we have the “Johnny we hardley knew ye” moment. He wasn’t President after all.
Y’all are brave people to even turn on any news-type show this weekend. I watched reruns of “Monk” and “The Closer”, but a news show? Hell, no!

I was looking for last night’s Greg Gutfeld show on my retard phone (it’s not smart at all, but has youtube), and that wouldn’t play, and instead I got Fox with former colleagues of Johnny Boy lubricating over how wonderful he was. I pulled out of it and put on some D’Souza before my head exploded. But my blood’s still boiling.
They’re necrophiliacs. They have to be.
