4years to finish. That neighborhood has been using every trick in the book to get more government money. If I lived near there I would use every excuse to move out. A bunch of new industrial buildings going up on Washington Street from 52nd to 55th. The future of that area is industrial, not residential. Long Live The Ditch. That is what the locals call it.
I found Denver metro to be unlivable 9 years ago and got out to the western slope. Best move I ever made.
I gather that some of these people that dont want this stuff built also want open borders and everyone to come to America (including Denver). I would like them to be asked...where did you think these people were going to live and drive?
The only problem is that in order to absolutely positively prevent cars from going the wrong way, they added all of these safety barriers that added up to the width of a second lane.
They could have had one lane going north all the time and one lane going south all the time but instead created some farcical science project.
That stretch of Interstate was overburdened when Stapleton was in operation in the 70’s.
hmm wonder if this one will exceed the amount the big dig was over budget.
Four years will become eight or ten.
Name it the Chickenpooper Memorial Freeway.
50 years is probably about right (if progress is as slow as it's been in Dallas).
NEVER FORGET
Democrats sold interstate I-25 as a freeway widening project. They bait and switched. They lied.
At the last moment, Democrats switched to an ugly electric transit that few people ride.
Denver is punished with long daily slow commutes. It is their sin of voting Democrat who solve nothing, but control and oppress.
I-70 built by Democrats will be an ugly, oppressive mess.
Or Boston’s Big Dig.
And 10x over budget. Not exaggerating.
One thing that would help is if the expanded 270. What a mess that has become.
But they won’t because it would compete with the E470 tollway.
Drove a truck from Cheyenne to Pueblo over a year ago. I’ll do all I can to never cross that corridor ever again. That portion of the Eastern slope an much of Colorado is ruined forever.
The ditch highway idea is a mess. Central expressway in Dallas, I45, is miserable. I have seen temperatures in the ditch of about 150 degrees in stalled traffic. Pavement temps must be much higher. It is horrible.
Local needs to cross the ditch grow. It is easier to go under a through viaduct than to cross a ditch.
Denver is toast. That does not even address the water problem.
