Beto O’Rourke, the Democrat challenging GOP Sen. Ted Cruz in the midterm elections, is being slammed by Republicans for saying there is “nothing more American” than kneeling during the national anthem.
“Comments like his are a slap in the face to every man and woman who has ever served our nation and put their lives on the line to defend American values,” Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey said Thursday.
O’Rourke, a Democratic congressman, was asked at a recent campaign event about NFL players who kneel during the anthem. O’Rourke replied, “I can think of nothing more American than to peacefully stand up, or take a knee for your rights anytime, anywhere, any place.”

I’m sure the comment fired up the crazy leftist base. All 30 of them. The rest of the democrats, and especially the independents and moderates are either going to sit this one out or vote for Cruz.
He would say that. Ted needs to hit him HARD on this.
All “WE” have to do is say “WE” agree with the take a knee, “WE” used to pray before the start of ANY sporting competition.
If “WE” push it loud and hard, eventually someone will come up with the ‘complaint’ that THEY are praying in public before games during the National Anthem.
THEN the apologists will have to band together and inform the world that YES, the low rent districts buttheads are NOT PRAYING, they are protesting conditions in the country.
THEN the unwashed masses will finally get the true word of what is taking place.

Yes...Though I’ve never lived in Texas I was amazed a candidate in Texas would make a statement like that, the few times I’ve been there I was impressed at the patriotism of Texans.

In a strange and eerie way; this kind of defines the difference between leftists and normals.
In a sick way O’Rourke is right. It is a fundamental American and human right to protest peacefully. What he/they don’t understand is why kneeling at the exact moment when we pledge allegiance to the flag (our country) is one of the most sacred things we do to show love of country and pay respect for those who have fought to protect it up to and including losing their lives to do it. A kick in the balls would be less painful.
If they don’t want to be here; I don’t see anything stopping them from leaving. I wish they would go and take every last one of their brain damaged ungrateful brethren with them.
