The lawyer for the illegal immigrant accused of killing an Iowa college student suggested Wednesday that President Trump has tainted his clients chance to get a fair hearing by publicly talking about the case.
Cristhian Rivera made his first appearance in an Iowa courtroom Tuesday on first degree murder charges in the slaying of Mollie Tibbetts, whose disappearance last month drew national headlines.
The judge set Mr. Riveras bail at $5 million, cash-only.
Mr. Rivera, according to investigators, admitted to having accosted her while she was jogging July 18, and then hiding her body. He led police to her body this week.
The case inflamed the immigration debate, with Mr. Trump weighing in Tuesday night, blaming a broken immigration system for contributing to the murder and saying it should have never happened.

[and the judge isn’t buying it.]
Good. The criminal already confessed and led the cops to the body before the President said anything anyways.
Well stated and true Bump!
Dont you just hate lawyers?
If Obama had a son.
As I recall Trump was careful and measured with his wording in reference to this murder. I could be wrong but I dont think he used any names and at the time I felt he could have said more. I assumed it was because possibly the parents were liberals and they would have accused him of using their daughters name for political gain.
Two ropes...on for the perp and one for his attorney!
Yeah, just like he tainted the trial of Kate Steinle’s killer. That guy didn’t stand a chance. Oh wait...
The evidence will or will not convict the guy.
The last thing I would want is for the wrong man to be convicted, and the real perp get off scott free.
How about trying the case in court. Novel idea...
Duck the butcher was right.
Trump did not mention either Mollie or the perp by name
Did I miss the part where Trump flew to down and directed the investigators to the location of the dead body?
I think that was the other guy. Your Mexican client starting his rot in jail, ass-clown public defender.
Why are Lawyers looked down upon?
They earn it.
I’d say from the size of that print it was the LA Times trying to ruin any chance of a trial for Manson.
Didn’t he already confess?
I wonder how this defense lawyer felt about Obama’s comments re:the Saint Trayvon incident?
.
He took them to the body.
Disbar him.
Damn straight!
He may have. I have read some things about the case, but I’m not the be-all end-all for information.
