eyedigress, I am a retired AF vet, too. I see nothing “repugnant” as you say. Nothing is wrong with sphinx’s statement... Trump is a great businessman and a fantastic president, maybe the only man alive who can do what he is doing now. But he does not have personal military experience, nor do I believe has he studied the subject. But, he hires the best, and engages with what they tell him. All is good, and nothing is “repugnant”.

I disagree. Trump was a military cadet for five years at the New York Military Academy. He rose to the prestigious Captain of Cadets. He was also the captain of the varsity baseball team.

Trump told his biographer that his five years' education at NYMA gave him more military training than the military could.

So Trump may not be an expert in the military but your claim that he knows "zero about the military" is simply not true.

President Reagan didn’t have much (any?) military experience either. But he was smart enough to recognize and take good advice. Anyone thing President Trump isn’t equally smart/shrewd? Personally I’m not worried...
