The South had already defeated the north in two full-scale battles. If we had fulfilled our obligations—beans, bullets, bandages—the South could have protected itself. The only, the sole reason that they were helpless before the final attack was that traitors in the senate had deprived them of the materiel they needed.
Skepticism of fake news must be retroactive.
