Aren’t five Catholics (and three Jews) already on the SCOTUS. And yes. Gorsuch says he’s an Episcopalian, but that is a distinction without a different theologically speaking.
So how about a “garden variety” Protestant Christian for a change?
It's not that that's the "single" issue or the "only" issue, it's that it's the fundamental issue. The basis for all the others.
If you don't even know that every human being is endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, you literally have no foundation on which to build or defend a Constitution.
Give me a candidate from whatever faith community who has a strong grasp on the basics, and I will come out for them with a bass drum, a megaphone, and an 8-column headline in All-caps.
