Christ Church Cathedral put up the display at their lawn on Monument Circle overnight. It shows statues of Mary, Joseph and Jesus in a cage.

“On our lawn tonight we placed The Holy Family…in #ICE detention,” the church wrote on its Twitter page.

The display has a sign saying #EveryFamilyIsHoly and its Spanish equivalent, #CadaFamiliaEsSagrada.

Yep! Satan is speaking through that “church” for sure!

Tax them now! They’ve lost their tax exempt status

Right, and those cages were built during the Obama administration during which criminal, illegal immigrant families were housed, often separately from their children.

The lying liberal propaganda media doesn't like talking about those facts ....

Perhaps they should recall tht Joseph was on the way to paying his taxes.

I think the best case is made if you refer to the flight to Egypt. Even then, in a cage the Holy Family is protected from Herod, which was the main objective.

Does it mention the route taken? I’ll have to check. If the went by boat, then yes. If they went south on foot through the Sinai they would have been outside Rome. That area was controlled by thr Nabateans.

Wasn’t that still in the Roman Empire anyhow? This would be like getting away from Boss Hogg by going to Florida.

And they’d have to negotiate with the Nabateans then... but if they could get out of the Roman Empire then they wouldn’t be liable to its taxes either....

The church and the priest re ignorant preetenders

there is no correlation or other relation between illegal aliens and Mary and Joseph.

The church is attempting to use a cause celebre to increase offerings........ disgusting

What the diplomatic arrangements were between the Roman Empire Palestine and Egypt aren’t clear to me. Apparently it wasn’t as big a deal then as it is today. Egypt would have been happy enough to have a Jewish community in it, as they were an industrious, productive people (that’s how they also made good slaves centuries before, a problem that never recurred with Egypt). If all the people clambering over the southern border had the mind of the Ellis Island immigrants, we wouldn’t be in this uproar. They don’t, and we are.

Well the bible doesn’t tell us. Modern Christmas pageants often have the holy family on camelback, perhaps implied by the stabling feature of the inn there was no more room for people in.

But this isn’t a good example as there always WAS a way to get there within the Roman Empire. If I go from California to Florida and cut through Mexico, I didn’t have to.

The Holy Family weren’t asylum seekers of any sort. They were traveling within the territory of the Roman Empire under the umbrella of Pax Romana.
It would be like leaving Texas to go to Idaho.

These churches who make out Jesus as a refugee or Mary as unwed or other novelties are simply liars for a cause.

Egypt was in the Roman Empire at the time of concern. So there wasn’t any need for the Holy Family to have left the Roman Empire. Even when it went to Egypt.

The tipoff would have been, "...Stephen Carlsen, dean of Christ Church Cathedral."

Episcopalians.

In fact, I Googled them and found out they're some kind of breakaway, "more progressive" otherkins "in the Episcopal tradition."

Not that there's anything wrong with that!/s

But yeah. Not one word in the Bible says they were lawless border-violators.

I do feel sorry for the kids who get dragged across the rattlesnake-infested desert by their parents, or their narcotraficante coyote, or whoever the adults in the group happen to be, I think that --- dragging kids halfay across a continent to break the law --- constitutes using "human shields," and is child abuse.

But at least PART of the solution has to be disincentivizing this criminal folly, in fact making it impossible.

Build the wall.

Enforce the law.

Churches want to push a political agenda. Fine, subject them to Federal and state income taxes as well as property taxes. Enjoy the IRS audits too.

While I do not like the idea of churches being under threat or influence of government, I do think that revoking tax-exempt status might do away with a lot of pastors who get filthy rich off the faith of their flocks.

I would call that religious slander.

Mary and Joseph were law biding Jews. When they traveled to Egypt they would not have crossed into Egypt if the Egyptian government said they should not do that.

Second point. Mary and Jospeph in all of the context about them are not analogous to the illegals trying to cross the U.S. border. There is no similarity to the circumstances.

The church slanders Mary and Joseph.
