The latest insult to injury to an American business tragedy. Obama-fanboy Jeff Immelt is still in denial about the mess he created.

The Generals used to own every aspect of our retail lives.

General Electric. General Mills. General Motors.

But not anymore.

I’m sure they’re sadder about the state of their pensions and the price of the company stock.

i like walgreens and shop there, but it is hardly an Industrial company...

whereas GE mostly is an industrial company

this doesn’t make much sense and...
the DJIA ain’t what it used to be (a quick, albeit indirect but still useful measure of USA industrial production). i guess DJ has given up on producing stuff in USA? MAGA says otherwise, we are trying to regain, restore, resurrect, expand our industrial production base now. selling pain pills and crutches to sick old people is a wonderful business, one I have to patronize all too much..alas.. but it is not industrial production, really

I agree. How can the Dow be an indicator when it keeps changing over the years?

Too Bad GE leadership don’t have live in the mess they created by selling out to china while not paying any taxes yet funding politicians who want to raise DOMESTIC taxes....

I feel sorry for the GE employees, the top management can ESAD!

The Dow Jones Industrial Average® (The Dow®), is a price-weighted measure of 30 U.S. blue-chip companies. The index covers all industries except transportation and utilities.

...

Your lack of knowledge is a joke.

It’s a bit like the global warming “scientists” gluing all of their proxies together to show the long term trends.

As far as I can tell, the Dow mostly shows how the gov’t has inflated the dollar.

It doesn’t seem all that long ago that GE had the largest market cap.

“The Industrial portion of the name is largely historical, as many of the modern 30 components have little or nothing to do with traditional heavy industry. “

The Dow is a bogus long term indicator, much like Global Warming proxies.

The DJI is a blue chip index. The word “industrial” is a traditional holdover name from many years ago.

Walgreens Boot Alliance has a market cap of $62 billion, revenue of over $100 billion, and earnings over $5 billion.
