Liz Peek: Negative Nancy Pelosi bummed out by booming Trump economy

Is Nancy Pelosi a secret agent for the Republican Party? Sometimes you have to wonder. Her latest outburst, in which she derides the accelerating economy and declining unemployment, is so nonsensical that it demeans Democrats’ credibility, shows them to be remarkably out of touch with average Americans and underscores the poverty of their competing platform. It isn’t the first time Pelosi has given GOP candidates rich fodder for ridicule; remember how she compared thousand-dollar bonuses to “crumbs?” That’s a clip that will show well in midterm campaign ads.

Pelosi’s latest Twitter sensation came amidst her weekly press conference, at which she scorned the improving jobs situation. Here’s a direct quote: "(P)eople say, ‘Oh my goodness, ... people are saying the unemployment rate is down, why isn’t my purchasing power increasing? So, this isn’t just about the unemployment rate, it’s about wages rising in our country, so that consumer confidence is restored.”

**SNIP**

Nancy Pelosi has probably not looked for a job for a very long time, so the good news on hiring may not matter much to her. After all, she has served in Congress for 30 years. At some point, Democrats embarrassed by her slipping grip on our economic reality, may decide that’s quite long enough.

Who would hire someone with an outlook like that? She should stay right where she is for another 30 years.

Trump do NOT back down about China trade.

Last year, China racked up the largest trade surplus in recorded history. And their surplus is going UP again, this year.

The economy is not booming, to nearly the extent it should.

And frankly, a whole lot of people get that. That is a large part of why you won the election.

Bring back American jobs. To America.

Wull gee guys.... Everyone knows that high unemployment is really what spurs an economy. Not those silly jobs and rising wages.

No they won't as long as she and Hillary control the Purse Strings.

Nothing to do with Pelosi, but isn’t there an old saw about women’s hemlines rising when the economy is good? I haven’t noticed that this time around even though the economy is great.

The economy is getting better but is not good. It is just that it was really, really bad. Male work participation rates are below 70%. Even accounting for people living longer in retirement years, real male unemployment is around 15 percent. We have a much higher disability rate and disability entitlement than ever before, so most of those will not return to the labor force, (just continue to suck down the economy.) But still, accounting for all that, we have a long way to go before we start seeing meaningful wage increases across the board.

Nancy and professional scumbag Bill Maher would love to see the misery of a recession descend upon America so they can take political power from Trump. They never put country first. She actually prays for that, Maher doesn’t because he is an atheist that bows to a statue of Soros that he keeps in his garage.

Dems need to own this hatred of their own nation.

The interesting fact is that the growth of the trade imbalance is increased purchasing of desirble Chinese products by Americans experiencing Trump induced economic growth.

Great that the overall economy is good, but Republicans can’t run on the unemployment rate forever. The economy can be subject to forces beyond the control of any Republican politician, including media bias and the inclination of prosperous people to become ungrateful.

There’s lots of other issues that Republicans are ignoring. The state of the school system. Affirmative action doctors botching operations. Microeconomic issues such as high energy bills. Crime. Name some others.

1. Nobody can solve every problem at once. (Yes, of course, the media will attack along these lines, but who pays attention to them anymore?)

2. Trump has addressed or resolved many massively important issues singlehandedly in just 17 months, with the GOP in Congress not giving him ANY help whatsoever. (ACA Individual mandate, Unemployment, North Korea (hostages and nukes), Israel Embassy, Economic growth (destroying the "New Normal" lie), fighting for the Wall and border enforcement, etc etc etc). How about giving Trump a few more months to hit a dozen more, before you start whining that he isn't the Second Coming?

3. The RNC doesn't deserve our support. They have only stabbed us in the back, and are standing back and watching Trump keep them in power while they do nothing. We need to work our tails off REMOVING incumbent Republicans from office... preferably in the Primaries, but in the General if we must.
