Deputies: Legal weed grow site under investigation for human trafficking
Salinas Californian ^ | June 6, 2018 | Joe Szydlowski

Investigators are looking into possible human trafficking at a licensed marijuana grow site south of Salinas after finding 10 foreign nationals living in a shipping container.

The alleged victims, from Laos and Mongolia, didn't show any obvious signs of abuse and are being cared for after Monterey County Sheriff's deputies and District Attorney investigators responded to the 2200 block of Alisal Road, said sheriff's Cmdr. John Thornburg.

"These people are not in the county jail. They are victims of human trafficking and are being treated as such," he said.

No one has been arrested, Thornburg said.

He declined to state the name of the grow business or its owners due to the ongoing investigation.

And no one will be arrested. The illegals will be given asylum because they are victims of human trafficking. The marijuana growers will be let off because they are a protected industry in California. What a pathetic joke California government is.

Does Sessions know about this? Since weed is involved I would think would at least wake up from his nap to investigate.

Was wondering when that would happen. Monterey County though? Seems a little urban for a clandestine grow.

Lots of open desert to do shady things. Just ask Charlie Manson and the fine people of the Owens Valley.

They did not need to explain to me why the houses north of Bishop were nicknamed the Crystal City. You could smell the meth driving through at 70.

I wouldn’t notice an opium poppy crop planted on my next door neighbor’s lawn. Diversifying from the old Mexican pot cartels?

Perhaps not strictly morally and legally.....but most certainly less judge-y.

Just sayin.

Nobody ever said anything like that. Weed doesn’t make anybody moral or immoral. And all types of people use it.

Salinas is the lettuce capital of the world. You think they never hire illegals? Does that make all salad eaters somehow guilty because they eat salad? That makes about as much sense.

Timeout....
The county building inspectors were on-site updating their (public) records for the marijuana growing operation.

The names of the operator and property owner should be plastered all over the newspaper.
