Seventeen Republican lawmakers, led by Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), submitted a resolution Tuesday demanding the appointment of a second special counsel to probe misconduct by Justice Department and FBI officials during the 2016 presidential election.
~~~
The 12-page resolution requested the Justice Department to appoint a second special counsel to probe matters associated to three topics: the ending of the investigation into Hillary Clintons personal email server, the progress of the Trump-Russia investigation from its origins through the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel, and abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) during the warrant application process.
You are describing “The Game Being Played”. Why would Sessions ever need a Special Counsel? He has 1.3 Trillion Sealed Indictments. He just can’t figure out how to open them! /s
Huber’s task, as explicitly stated by AAG Boyd and repeated by AG Sessions, is to “make recommendations”. There is no source for claims he will be THE prosecutor.
Sessions is a non-factor at DOJ as proven by his non-attendance at
the Rosenweasel and Wray meeting at the WH.
He is not working behind the curtain regarding these scandals.
He is not working on some secret plan.
He is a recused AG by choice. AWOL from the biggest scandal in
American history.
It is very gay to change the headline.
The DOJ exists to prosecute federal crimes. The DOJ must prosecute the criminal conspiratal cabal. And..... is
So true, all of it. And yet Sessions is not completely out of the picture. When it came out that Rosenstein was/is up to his eyeballs in the illegal FISA warrant abuse scandal, Sessions came to his rescue with lavish praise. Then, when Trump spoke of firing Rosenstein, Sessions threatened to resign in protest (if Trump followed through).
So Sessions actually is working. He’s just working on the wrong side.
Should be a federal grand jury(s) looking into this because:
We don’t have time for interminable investigations with no actual results.
And screw Jeff Sessions.
Your attempt at humor fails!
It is pretty funny that the useless little piece of crap named Jeff Sessions wasn’t invited to the meeting.
Giuliani or Joe DiGenova would be my two choices to be the Special Prosecutor.
His absence if telling!
Because special counsels always work out so well.
Idiot.
Oh yea, more special councils getting paid and doing nothing.
Classic Clinton if you think about it. Jump out in front of pending scandal or controversy over illegal activities by accusing your opponents of doing it first.
That's true. But I have two thoughts about that.
1. The IG investigation has been going on for 15 - 17 months. Some of the folks who are no longer employed by the FBI/DOJ may have been interviewed in the past before retiring/being retired.
2. Remember who is still employed by the FBI, e.g., Priestrap and Strzok. These two may have all the info the IG needs for a criminal referral.
Im really beginning to suspect that Sessions is the insurance policy.
To be honest , when Sessions came out in full support of Trump early in the campaign I was surprised as to why he would throw his support so quickly. I think someone has some pretty nasty stuff on the guy and recruited him early on to gain Trumps confidence.
Bad idea for Congress to interfere at this moment.
A special council investigating the Justice Department should be empowered by the Congress, not approved by the department to be investigated.
