The FBI didn’t use an informant to go after Trump. They used one to protect him. [WasPo garbage]

But Trump and his backers are wrong about what it means that the FBI reportedly was using a confidential source to gather information early in its investigation of possible campaign ties to Russia. The investigation started out as a counterintelligence probe, not a criminal one. And relying on a covert source rather than a more intrusive method of gathering information suggests that the FBI may have been acting cautiously — perhaps too cautiously — to protect the campaign, not undermine it.

As a former FBI counterintelligence agent, I know what Trump apparently does not: Counterintelligence investigations have a different purpose than their criminal counterparts. Rather than trying to find evidence of a crime, the FBI’s counterintelligence goal is to identify, monitor and neutralize foreign intelligence activity in the United States. In short, this entails identifying foreign intelligence officers and their network of agents; uncovering their motives and methods; and ultimately rendering their operations ineffective — either by clandestinely thwarting them (say, by feeding back misinformation or “flipping” their sources into double agents) or by exposing them

Somebody hasn’t been paying attention for the past 18 months. Aren’t journalists supposed to pay attention to the world around them?

Reminds me of the old Jon Lovitz skits from SNL.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

Without realizing it, she established two things:

1) The FBI agent was sent in to *protect* Trump from Russian interference, meaning they knew Trump had no intent to collude. (Does “no intent” ring a bell?)

2) No FBI agents were infiltrated into the Clinton campaign to protect her. So it wasn’t just the Deplorables and Macedonians who were against Hillary. The misogynists in the intelligence community were too!

If Trump needed protection from collusion, then he obviously had no intent to collude.

No intent....where have we heard that before?

This is a very excellent point. The media is destroying itself in front of the whole world.

First it is "Obama would never do that" and then "Obama did it to protect the Trump campaign". They seriously think that they own us with their reporting and fake polls.

Meanwhile, Hillary has an unsecure server in a bathroom and many agency heads used aliases in communicating. The ABC agencies were not protecting Trump, they were covering up crimes.

Time for Trump to order the Stroz and Page texts be released without redaction and we will see what this was all about.

Page didn’t bite

Carter Page, who long before the Trump campaign helped the FBI after he was approached by actual Russian spies in the course of his work. He became an FBI asset and helped them bust those Russians. Most likely the FBI asked him to approach the Trump campaign and then report to them. The FBI based the FISA court case on Page’s history with the Russians (not mentioning that he was an FBI asset) and the fictional dossier. This is felony on top of felony.

Stefan Halper told Sputnik:

3 Nov 2016: Sputnik: Clinton Best Option for US-UK ‘Special Relationship’ – Ex-White House Official
The victory of Hillary Clinton, who is more experienced and predictable than her Republican rival Donald Trump, in the US presidential elections will be more beneficial for the US-UK relations, former White House official Stefan Halper told Sputnik

“I believe [Hillary] Clinton would be best for US-UK relations and for relations with the European Union. Clinton is well-known, deeply experienced and predictable. US-UK relations will remain steady regardless of the winner although Clinton will be less disruptive over time,” Halper, who served as deputy assistant secretary of state for political-military affairs and senior adviser to the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice, said.

*how do these people sleep at night?*

Probably in multiple locations and with both eyes open while having cold sweats.

There is a lot of fear flying around I’m 100% sure. I think the fear of the gallows is very real for them.

Lots of alcohol and Ambien. Or upside down in a closet.

The bullsh!t here is stunning to see.

Here's the next thing I expect to see from the WP:

"Clinton campaign didn't rig the Democrat primaries to screw Bernie Sanders. They did it so they could help an old man avoid the disruption of moving from Vermont to the White House."

Who do they think they're kidding?

This was both covert AND intrusive, not to mention illegal.

There should NOT have been an 'intrusive method'! There should NOT have been a 'covert source'!

They really do believe we're this dumb.
