Climate change poses a "current and existential national security risk" to Australia, according to a Senate inquiry report released Thursday.
The report, compiled by the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade References Committee, reviewed the implications of climate change on Australia's national security and the insights are startling.
Sherri Goodman, a climate security expert and a former deputy undersecretary of defense in the Clinton administration, told the committee that climate change poses a "direct threat to the national security of Australia," and also creates a "global existential risk."
"We know that the storms that you've been experiencing in your part of the world [Australia] now are also attributable, in part, to accelerated climate risks. The problem also is not a distant one in the future but it's now," Goodman said.
Goodman also told the committee that climate change is a "threat multiplier" and aggravates existing security challenges.
Government and defense officials told the committee that security challenges, including geopolitical, socioeconomic, water, energy, food and health challenges could increase the potential for conflict. Australia's former defense force chief Admiral Chris Barrie submitted his assessment to the committee, predicting that of all seven continents, Australia is most likely to be harmed by the effects of climate change.
Climate change has been priority for Australia, as it among the countries most vulnerable to climate change in the developed world.

Startling. Not truthful, but startling.
Actually, fake science is Audtralia’s greatest security risck.
Gotta hand it to these frauds; they’re consistent with their talking points even though there is major backtracking going on right now on predictions of how much impact CO2 actually has in warming.
Given Oz’s vast deserts, any change just might be an improvement!
Yeah right. Australia, that has had a drought for the last billion years. What storms? Queensland had 1 storm that was of note but the rest of the Land Down Under is still lacking sufficient rainfall to sustain itself. A dust storm ravaged Charlesville. They would love to have some of this rain that “Climate Change” is supposed to have brought about.
Sounds like they are suffering from Democratitis.
After months of incessant “Trump Russia Stormy Trump”, an occasional Climate Change Apocalypse story does break the monotony.

Yes, they “could”, then again maybe not...
If you had a Marine Division and a credible navy, you could have done it yourselves.
If.
Someone tap these Final Solution types on the shoulder and tell them air moves freely across national borders.
Dear Aussies:
Just.
Stop.

Now.
The biggest national security risk is that people think climate change is the biggest security risk.
Yes it is. A con job like that can cost them billions of dollars and much freedom if they are so stupid to believe it.
Naaa...Red China isn’t a threat at all. LOL!! Suckers!
God help us if our Military Industrial Complex signs on for the new revenue stream. What they want, they get.
