We have somebody who makes the rounds in my neighborhood. I find it is just easier to leave the doors unlocked and nothing of value in the vehicle except maybe some change. Unlike the rest of the street, my windows and mirrors are never broken.

Plus I wired a little logic box into my ignition, so the vehicle is pretty much impossible to Hotwire. Better living through clever electronics

Around 30 years ago my Brother had the battery stolen out of his car while it was parked in his driveway.

A couple of days later he noticed some boys tinkering with an old car about a block away. He walked over and began talking to them. He then looked at the car and sure enough, recognized his battery.

I don’t recall the exact sentences but the judge literally threw the book at them. Several years in prison.

That is the purpose for townhomes and condos. They take the brunt of crime. While other cars are safely locked away inside garages.
