This isn’t a complete comparison, although its interesting.
In Israel service is mandatory (and also respected). But, after service, the ex-soldier lives in a modern country with a high standard of living and opportunity.
For the paid Palestinian rioter, this is a high paying job, better than they could get in the Gazan economy. And, it looks like it appeals to their violent inclinations. They get paid... and they enjoy it.
I would expand on the idea of mandatory military service in that it is mandatory because it is necessary as they pretty much live under siege.
