AFGE calls on Congress to reject anti-veteran, anti-VA bill
WASHINGTON In response to todays vote by the House Veterans Affairs Committee on H.R. 5674, American Federation of Government Employees National President J. David Cox Sr. issued the following statement:
H.R. 5674 is a privatization bill, make no mistake about that. This legislation kicks the door wide open to VA privatization, no matter what its supporters claim. Whoever becomes VA Secretary will have all the power necessary to undermine the comprehensive, integrated care and services now provided in-house to veterans.
Privatization of the VA certainly sounds like a good idea. The government certainly doesnt know how to run it.
And I should oppose it because the VA has given such high quality care?
The VA system needs to be on a card with a chip. Each card defines the limits of eligibility for each veteran. Rates are commensurate with Tricare rates and could perhaps be administered thru the Tricare program. Specialized care for PTSD, spinal cord, etc would be integrated into our military health care facilities, many of which already care for vets.
Very cool!
About time to get rid of the water cooler buffalos IMHO. AFGE is ran by the laziest of the lazy. You know the old turd floats to the top theory.
There is one thing I agree with FDR about, Government Unions should be banned.
To repeat the key phrase: :undermine the comprehensive, integrated care and services provided.... Does this simpleton know anything about the crappy care many Vets get at various VA hospitals? Of course he knows.
Plus, it makes no sense. If the VA was privatized, there would be no VA Secretary. There would be a CEO and possibly a Board of Directors with a Chairman, depending how the NGO is structured. This guy is the head of such a large union? What, he had a cocktail luncheon that he couldn't miss so assigned his bloated staff to throw this out? Sheesh.
I remember when President Reagan fired the air traffic controllers on strike. And the USA kept on keeping on. Your right, Fegov unions should be abolished by Congress.
