Imagine traveling the world, surfing the waves of unspoilt beaches, meeting new people – and still being able to work remotely with unwavering Wi-Fi, in a community of like-minded wanderers and digital nomads. All of this, at a price you can afford.

That is what Selina, a Panamanian hospitality network, has set out to offer. Bridging the gap between hostels and boutique hotels, Selina adds extra features like unique co-working spaces, yoga and meditation classes, as well as local travel experiences at stunning locations in Central America. Co-working spaces bring together people from different companies, industries and countries in a shared work station. The goal is foster an environment in which people can exchange ideas and grow in their respective professions.

Founded in 2014 by Israeli globetrotters Rafael Museri and Daniel Rudasevski in Playa Venao, Panama, the project aims at creating a whole ecosystem that revolves around a thriving community for whom the concepts of work, adventure and healthy living have started to merge. Whether looking for a holiday adventure or a longer ‘workation’, Selina offers accommodation that spans from dorm beds to luxury suites, to private and shared apartments, with a price-range that welcomes an eclectic crowd.

Best thing about Panama?

You can use the US dollar! Its the nation’s official currency.

Spent just over two years in Panama while in the Army back around 1971 and loved it. As a 19 and 20 year old kid who grew up in cold northern Michigan on a lake, Panama and the year long summer and ocean was like heaven.

Spent lots of weekends at an Army barracks at the end of Taboga Island which was available to us for $2 a night and in the day, I would snorkle spearfish off the shore........

Outside the barracks they had stretched out a sheet between two poles and at night they would set out a movie projector and project movies onto the sheet. Myself and my buddy would go into the resort village and buy some beers then go back and watch the movie along with other villagers who would come up for the entertainment...........Real cool stuff!

Isn’t Panama crime-ridden?

Cool, maybe you can join Hellary on a yoga mat while she’s using the wifi for emails.

Not to American ex pats.

Wonderful climate, beautiful beaches, a lower cost of living, good food and friendly people.

Think of FL but with both oceans a couple of hours drive apart.

That’s Panama.

Relative to what? Chicago is crime-ridden, and lots of middle-class people live there still.

I have a feeling that, as long as you stay inside the "gated community", things would probably be safe, since the government of Panama has a big interest in making expats feel safe.

Except that when the SHTF those gated communities will not hold against the indigenous zombies. And what are the rules about owning AR-15’s and conceal carry?

If the expat community is a big source of national revenue, expect the Panamanian Army to defend the communities, understanding that their own salaries are paid for by that revenue.
