I haven’t given up on Gowdy, although I was surprised at his refusal to take Mueller to task in that recent interview. I suspect he’s well on the way to being a NeverTrumper now.
That said, I don’t think Gowdy has gone over to the other side, just that he’s had it with Trump’s management style. Among conservatives, he’s certainly not alone in that regard.
But that doesn’t mean that he suddenly wants to protect the swamp. He’s leaving office after all.
It sounds to me like he’s been told that the IG report release date is the first week in May and that he intends to interview Horowitz after people have had time to digest the report. There are, after all, bound to be questions after the report is issued.
I’m actually a little surprised that people don’t see it the same way I do, but I guess everyone has become cynical the past few years, with good reason. But on it’s face, Gowdy is saying that the report will have been issued before Horowitz makes his appearance before his committee. Otherwise his comment about postponement makes no sense.
Let me tell you how this will go down.
A show of rhetorical elegance is guaranteed.
The outcome will secure the NeverTrump UniParty, who are parading as conservatives , but prefer to work for a Democrat prez, in order to stop Trump and resume serving only their donor open borders agenda.

Boy Scout Paul Ryan is the most successful in his role of conservative prig, Miss Manners.
You have solidified my belief that the word conservative has lost any meaning it once had.
