Don’t do it!!!! Don’t do it!!!! This act will turn Trump into Bush. Its a no win fight, and everyone calling for war now will turn against you in three months, why get into that. The video is OBVIOUSLY a hoax! And we have no friends in Syria, none. There is nobody there who would not stab Trump in the back. This whole thing is about using our army for something other than our own boarders. That is the only thing the democrats care about. And Graham just wants his military vendors to get more huge contracts.

The sad thing is that this new action will hurt everything Trump stands for. The military will not get their pay raise because we will be buying missiles instead. Our boarders will not have troops on them because the troops will be dying in Syria. And the democrats will not be on Trumps side. As soon as Trump commits himself they will attack Trump on the first American death.

Letting the press start our wars is the most foolish thing Presidents do in this country. We should defend friends who have a chance to win. But there are no friends in Syria.

And by the way. Chlorine gas is available in every factory. It is commonly used and available everywhere. These videos could come from a chlorine gas tank being shot at in any town factory in Syria. It could have been done on purpose or by mistake. It could have been done by any side. In fact it is likely that it was caused by the lack of electricity in a holding tank. Chlorine is stored as a liquid when its cold. When the electricity is shut down, it would explode. So, this most common of all industrial chemicals could easily harm many people in a war zone. In fact Chlorine gas is often spilled in the US through leaks in factories or train car derailments.

The “proof” is from Jaish al Islam (the Army of Islam), a Saudi-supported offshoot of Al Qaeda. What more could we possibly need?

The only anti-interventionist candidates were Trump and Paul. Running as non-interventionist got Trump nominated & elected. He was the safer choice for those against Moar War.

Jaish al Islam (the allleged victim) has & has used chlorine weapons, against the Kurds in Aleppo. Now, we’re on their side. NeoCons have decreed it

The problem with the General Mattis statement is - exactly when did he make it? Before we knew for sure? So his statement doesn’t necessarily mean we didn’t know at the time we sent the tomahawks in. I think we did know when we sent the tomahawks in.

There’s even less of a way to know it’s a false flag. Where’s the proof of that? A bunch of people saying it isn’t proof.

“The last thing we need is another mid east disaster.”

It won’t be, Trump will not become part of am Iraqi Freedom for Syria. Not going to happen. Besides that so much has changed in the ME. Like I already asked and no one answered - who removed ISIS from Iraq? It wasn’t us. Most likely it was mainly Iraqi’s supported by the GCC.

What Mattis said recently was that we didn’t know if it was specifically sarin. People should not extrapolate that into no proof of a chemical attack.

I understand your feelings. I remember when Obama drew the line in the sand. Initially, Rush Limbaugh and republicans criticized Obama not for his failure of reacting to Assad's (supposedly bombing of civilians) but for drawing the line in the first place. Once he drew the line, Obama was criticized for failing to follow through AFTER the line which he drew was crossed.

Trump's failure (if one wants to call it that) is not that he may bomb Syria, it's that he made the promise that he would if it happened again.

Trump may be between a rock and a hard place. It depends on whether he saw Obama’s first line to be now US policy. If he saw it that way then he felt the need to act when the Obama line was crossed under his own presidency, then that may be why he felt and continues to feel that we must act. I think Trump drew his own line in the sand since Obama’s first line, which puts him on the same hook Obama got on a few years ago.

In my perfect world, Trump should have ignored the Obama line that Obama stupidly drew. I never agreed with Obama having drawn it in the first place and I'm sure, with the exception of Mcain and Graham, most republicans disagreed with the Obama line as well. Their problem with Obama’s line was that he lost us credibility for failing to act when it was crossed.

Somehow, this all got forgotten.

This has nothing to do with a chemical attack. The US wants to bring down Assad and has for some time. The real reason has more to do with security of Israel than Syrian children.
The real question; is Israel’s security worth risking a shooting war with Russia?

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. has no evidence to confirm reports from aid groups and others that the Syrian government has used the deadly chemical sarin on its citizens, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Friday.

“We have other reports from the battlefield from people who claim it’s been used,” Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon. “We do not have evidence of it.”

Read post 48.

Mattis last year;

“We have gone back through and looked at all the evidence we can and it’s very clear who planned this attack, who authorized this attack and who conducted this attack itself,” said Mattis.

The GCC will take care of that.
