Trump signals strikes against Syria, lays into Assad backer Russia

U.S. President Donald Trump warned Russia on Wednesday of imminent military action in Syria over a suspected poison gas attack, declaring that missiles “will be coming” and lambasting Moscow for standing by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Trump was reacting to a warning from Russia that any U.S. missiles fired at Syria over the deadly assault on a rebel enclave near Damascus would be shot down and the launch sites targeted.

His comments raised fears of direct conflict over Syria for the first time between the two world powers backing opposing sides in the seven-year-old civil war, which has aggravated instability across the Middle East.

“Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

“You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!” Trump tweeted, referring to Moscow’s alliance with Assad.

Based on what evidence that Syria / Russia gassed their owns people of Syria after having defeated Isis? Where is ANY proof? We learned in Iraq to never accept conclusions based of false pretext.

Trump has it made a single mistake since he became President and has shown himself to be most masterful strategist the Republic has ever known.

I trust Trump.

That is spilt milk at this point. Obama drew line in sand and ignore when it was crossed; Trump did respond last year; now again says we WILL. It is clear that Assad has been using chemical weapons from all reports. Foolish to hear people defend Assad and Russia here on FR and elsewhere. Time to rally behind and with Trump. If the international community finds other culprits, retarget and eliminate them as well; kill anyone involved in the fighting as far as I care, but time to back Trump now. And, sorry for those that want to defend Assad, or oppose anyone that McCain sided with, etc., none of these folks are worthy of support, we drew a line in the sand, now the international community must act. We must act because, like it or not, we are the leading country. Act like it.

I voted for the guy who campaigned against these stupid, useless military adventures. If I wanted a Sunni Muslim in the White House I would have voted for Jeb Bush.

Why would asad se gas when he has won ?the war?

It’s the quickest way for him to lose the war.

Are you this isn’t a false flag?

” It is clear that Assad has been using chemical weapons from all reports. “ You just believe unsubstantiated — no fact— no evidence “reports”. IT IS NOT CLEAR AT ALL!! I assume you fell for that in Iraq. Well, I just disagree with that line of NON thinking. If Trump attacks a sovereign nation, that has not done one damned thing to this country on the allegations on lying Jihadis , he is not the leader I had hoped in vain for.

So if Bashar al-Assad didn’t order or authorize the use of chemical weapons, who did?

I have a feeling this was a false flag event and Trump will want to rule that scenario out before launching an attack.

Last month Russian media said US backed rebels were preparing a chemical attack in Syria.

Read these too;

Then read this;

Now remember we can track every air movement in Syria in real time. Last year we tracked the jets loading the gas, taking off, dropping the gas, and landing.

We have systems that can track an incoming mortar round, calculate the origin, fire back and destroy the enemy before they get a second shot off.

We know. Trump is not stupid “falling for a false flag” like so many think.

Bullshit. Assad has the rebels on the ropes, so he’s stupid enough to do the one thing that would provoke an American response? That makes zero sense. These are the same people who told you that Saddam was harboring Bin Laden surrogates. We were wrong them and we are wrong now.

A giant alarm bell goes off in my head whenever I see a pathetic post from a Freeper who uses "the international community" to justify U.S. military action against another sovereign country.

I voted for the guy who didn't give a flying sh!t about "the international community."

We do not have an automatic right to attack a nation that is attacking nether us nor those allied with us. If we are going to claim humanitarian grounds for getting tough with this midget, we should at least await the results of an open and impartial investigation of the alleged chemical attack before a neutral tribunal. “I trust Trump” is not a good enough reason to launch an undeclared war.

The Russians aren't the only party in this negotiation. The other party are the anti-Trumpers who accused Trump of collusion with the Russians.

Did they intend to push us into nuclear war with Russia? If not then they need to back down.

I trust Trumps judgement on this but I am concerned. This doesn’t pass the smell test.

The last thing we need is another mid east disaster.

Mattis openly stated in February that there was ZERO evidence that the Assad regime used Chemical Weapons back in 2017 when they president bombed them “for the children”.

They already know they fell for it once!

We voted for a guy that said he’d respond and criticized Obama for ignoring chemical attacks. We also voted for a guy who said he’d set up safe havens in Syria so the refugees would not come here or elsewhere. He IS following through on the first promise, the 2nd is pending.
