Not in their minds. They can point to plenty of “christians” in the UMC, UCC, ELCA, TEC, ABC, PCUSA, RCC, and countless non-denoms led by bearded hipsters with untucked shirts who are almost completely secular humanists but have a strong belief in the teachings of the man named Jesus and say that they fully agree with these people.
And those people think that Socialism is the economic form that Jesus wanted us to live by.
But, they (the non-religious and religious left) thinks that anyone who believes the entire bible is a closed-minded rube.
So, when Prog tells me that the left does not hate Christians, I tell them that I believe that Jesus is God and that no one comes to the Father except through him. I tell them that man cannot be saved by his own flawed “goodness” and that Jesus had to die and be resurrected to save us.
Then, they (again, the religious and non-religious left) roll their eyes and tell me that I can believe that if I want but that doesn’t feed the poor.
So, yeah, they hate Christians but they don’t think they do.
In the fwiw department, I watched the DNC national convention in Charlotte 2012.
