That is quite true. However, Trump may build a world-class defense at the cost of his presidency; a defense the likes of Pelosi and Schumer will inherit to use or not use in the best interests of America.
Arguably, the necessity of making up for lost time re defense wasn't the critical hinge point at this specific point in time. Trump will now suffer a "read my lips" that may affect well affect his term of office.
