It was supposed to be 17 minutes of silent protest in honor of the 17 people killed last week in Parkland, Florida, in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
But on the south side of Chicago Wednesday morning, there was no silence as students who walked out of nearby Simeon Career Academy trashed a Walmart during their walkout protest.
Dozens of student walked out of Simeon at the appointed time of the protest, only to enter Walmart and knock over store displays and rip products off the shelves. Video of the aftermath shows aisles trashed and there is apparently surveillance video which police are using in an attempt to identify the perpetrators.

Then they have to wonder why business’ don’t want to invest in various parts of town when the chances are high that their investment will just get looted, damaged and/or destroyed.

Then people such as Michelle Obama bitch about the ghetto areas being food deserts, because major chain supermarkets won’t locate in such places.
They can’t win, can they?
If the companies locate in these bad areas, they have more problems in their businesses than they have in other locations. If they pull out, then they are condemned as making areas food deserts, or being racist, or other such crimes against humanity.

Finally someone reporting has the guts to ditch the “alleged” crap. These little thugs did it, they are on camera doing it. It isn’t alleged. It is a FACT.
Thanks rktman. The proper response would have been to direct all customers to the exits, lock all the doors with the vandals inside, and set fire to the contents.

The article quotes an alderman about working hard to bring the national retailers in, and the students’ actions aren’t helping the economics of the ‘hood.
