President Donald Trump held a freewheeling White House meeting on Wednesday to discuss various gun-control measures, at one point jabbing a Republican senator over his reluctance to raise the age of all gun purchases to 21 from 18.
"I think you're afraid of the NRA," Trump said to Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, arguing that raising the age limit was "something we have to think about."
"A lot of people are afraid to bring it up," Trump said, referring to the National Rifle Association's vehement opposition to the proposal. Some Democrats, such as Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, smiled and nodded at Trump's remarks.
Toomey said his reservations were due to fear that such a regulation would punish the "vast majority" of 19- and 20-year-olds in his state who own rifles or shotguns and are "law-abiding citizens."

I supported him. I have questioned some of his choices. This has done it for me. If he goes along with chipping away at the 2A, I am done.
People have a natural right, enshrined by the Second Amendment, to defend themselves.

Young people nowadays are less mature than they were in my father’s day, when teenagers lied about their age to go to war and did not experience the modern infantilizing effect of college. Today’s older teenagers often act like too much like two year olds to be entrusted with guns.
Toomey is a swamp creature who refused to endorse Trump. Payback.
They damn well better be afraid of the NRA. I hear they have a half million new members in the last two weeks.
Then when there are countless rapes against women under 21 who are left defenseless by this rule, will he change his mind?
Trump is a populist not a conservative. Sometimes popular ideas are conservative and sometimes they are idiotic. This is an example of Trump being an idiot.
Anyone who knows much about them probably doesn’t want one.

The LEGAL drinking age in all states has been 21 since Reagan was President.

I remember that just when I turned 18 they raised the drinking age to 19 and then when I became 19 they raised it to 21 (New York).
I think Trump is going to get primaried by a real conservative.
Any way one looks at it, I think he’ll end up a one-termer: (1) If the Rats take the House and Senate this November, Trump will be impeached; and there are enough RINOS in the Senate to tip the balance for “Guilty;” (2) He will get primaried and lose the nomination; or (3) he will get the nomination and lose the general election.
He is screwing his base, and his base is not amused.
I have has concerns about Donald Trump’s commitment to the 2nd Amendment since the day he announced his candidacy.
With that said, I am holding out hope that some of his recent statements are merely negotiation tactics and that he will ultimately do the correct and constitutional thing.
