Do you even have a clue as to the woman running? She was a complete train wreck along with her ‘platform.’

We aren’t democrats who will vote in just anybody to keep a seat warm. Besides which, this was a special election to fill a vacant seat which will be decided later.

You do realize that the candidate winning has to run against an opponent of the opposite party in next race right?

Get on your knees and thank the stars this woman lost. Now they have time to run someone with competence and cred.

Just because a candidate has an R after their name doesn’t mean they’re worth a damn. Given a choice between a crappy R and a D many voters shrug and go on with their lives.

I cannot relate to a widow, who after her husband commits suicide, runs for his seat. Doesn’t anyone grieve their lost loved ones anymore? First we remove the mourning period, then we remove the mourning?

“Do you even have a clue as to the woman running? She was a complete train wreck along with her ‘platform.’”

Don’t care.

Those seats count for more than your personal feelings about the candidate, even if they are idiots.

You handed the seat to a Democrat whom won’t give a damn what you think on anything.

So my suggestion is stop complaining and learn to love being part of #resistance.

He’ll I WISH the Dems would be that picky with their people, maybe they won’t win so easily against the other side that happily gives it away.

“Yea, there is a lot more to the story than “complacency”...”

Man oh man, the stories about the guy make my toes curl. Can you imagine having his wife campaign and to remind everyone of just how suspect the hubby was? It wasn’t just the accusations, it was being called the “Pope of Louisville,” and being thrown off the city council and for forth.

“So my suggestion is stop complaining and learn to love being part of #resistance.”

My suggestion is to stop calling people stupid, especially when you don’t know what their political background and experience is on some anonymous board, and actually LISTEN to what people are attempting to tell you.

Discussion is vital to the political process. Reactionary verbal catharsis is not.

No it was blue prior to 2016 where it barely went red and went back to the previous incumbent.

Here is the history of the GOP rep who committed suicide:

Could it that this is the reason she lost so badly?

From a previous article...

“Then, in December 2017, the KYCIR released a bombshell report about Johnson. Among the many interesting parts of Johnson’s past: he molested a 17-year old girl on New Year’s Eve in 2012, committed arson to collect insurance, was possibly involved in another arson case with his church, was cited at least three times by Alcohol Beverage Control officers, and was involved in a number of different lies, including that he had served as a United Nations ambassador and White House chaplain to three presidents. He was also the pastor who had gave last rites for people who died at the World Trade Center on September 11th.

Johnson gave a press conference a day after the article came out and denied all of the allegations. But a day after that, he committed suicide with a gun. The state party never endorsed Johnson in 2016. Matt Bevin called Johnson an embarrassment to the state, but notably was not as direct about asking him to resign as he was for four other state House Republicans accused of sexual harassment (notably former Speaker Jeff Hoover).

After Johnson’s death, his wife, Rebecca, stepped in to be a candidate, with the intent of carrying on her husband’s legacy. Johnson has made controversial remarks in the same manner as her husband. She has made light of drug use and domestic violence, used profanity to describe refugees, and lied about how many employees she managed at a job at Louisville Airport. But she has promised to continue to vote for conservative legislation, which has earned her donations from powerful Louisville State Senator Dan Seum and House Speaker Pro Tempore (and de facto Speaker) David Osborne. Her campaign is also being run by David Adams, who led Rand Paul’s primary campaign in 2010.

From a comment to the story: We, the GOP, selected the wife of the former rep, Dan Johnson to run. Dan killed himself after having been accused, as a preacher, of assaulting a 17 year old.

To win in most districts a complete campaign is needed:
Good candidate
Good message and media
Good ground game

Right now everyone needs to double check the reality of the candidates.

I remember that one. I guess they thought she could invoke the “Hillary” factor (wife of an elected official).

NOTHINGBURGER!

NOT a U.S. House seat. A Local Kentucky *State* House seat.

The incumbent (who rode into office on the Trump train) isn’t running, he’s DEAD. Suicide. (A well deserved suicide).

The dead guy’s wife ran instead. The former office holder, who barely lost, to the dead guy (when he was alive), easily reclaimed her LOCAL *State* House seat.

NOTHINGBURGER!

ZERO, national implications.

FAKE (deceptive) NEWS. This story, while true, is designed to be deceptive to make it LOOK LIKE the Republicans lost a U.S. House seat, which they DIDN’T.

This had nothing to do with turnout, “muh blue wave,” or anything.

This is literally groundhog day every week when people like you give this pathetic excuse for our weekly loss’. Someday you need to wake the hell up.

Just helps prove we Repubs are lazy as hell except when it comes to blowing smoke without starting any actual fires.

Unless we work as tirelessly as they do we will always be a dollar short and a day behind...

We also don't need a repeat of the Karl Rove strategy, that we seem intent on doing. The President is more important to these candidates than you seem to think.

Of course we have the entire leadership of the GOP willing to go down to defeat and Supreme Court be damned.
