Perhaps, POTUS is playing a little 4D Chess that will curry support from Mittens down the road in the Senate and make it difficult for him to undermine MAGA agenda.
As the titular head of the GOP, I guess President Trump has no choice but to make this endorsement. Still, the glowing accolades are tough to swallow.

Well, at least we get two hopefully decent Senators out of getting rid of Flake, and McStain dying and being replaced. With the GOPe Senate $hit balls in the majority, I don’t see that Trump had a choice.

Romney’s a shoo-in for winning the seat. He may be inconsequential at first, but after a few terms in the Senate he will build up seniority and start to matter. He might even become chairman of a committee.
Romney will win. Trump knows this.
DJT has both parties, the whole of the corrupt stasi state, the corrupt courts and fake stream media against him.
Having said that, I would not have endorsed Romney period. He’s a demoncrat infiltrating the Republican party. There’s no upside to endorsing the POS.
There are times when Trump acts really stupidly and against himself; sadly, this is one of them.

It’s Mormonland, and “Brother Romney” is the “anointed one” there. Just too bad Romney isn’t a womanizer in the secular sense.
