Impeach Clarence Thomas

For what: reading the Constitution?

I have never liked, trusted, or respected him. Wouldn’t be least bit bothered if he is forced to retire or whatever and let Trump name a good, inspiring replacement. Long term this would be good.

“Reliable” does not make him good or inspiring. Let him retire so Trump can appoint a new justice. I’d truly love to seem most or all of the long-service justices replaced.

Gee, I didn’t know it was the job of a Supreme Court Justice to be “inspiring”. I just thought they had to interpret cases, silly me.

What are you smoking? Thomas had always been a realiable conservative Justice. Usually, his most fervent detractors are rapid leftists.

Kinda like the scene from “A Bridge Too Far” where the loons escaped the nut house and were laughing at the British troops?

What do you mean that a reliable conservative vote doesn't make him good? It seems to me that the baseline evaluation is how well the justice votes. Inspiring is great but only if right thinking is at the foundation. Thomas might not be a Scalia in terms of persuasiveness but he always votes right. The chances are that his replacement won't be as reliable.

“I have never liked, trusted, or respected him.”

So. I never liked, trusted, or respected you.

Perhaps you could give a reason.

Or perhaps you think people can know this telepathically.

Or perhaps you think we should all just trust that you know what you’re talking about.

Or perhaps you operate like a liberal whereby you emote rather than think.

Clarence Thomas has usually been the most conservative justice on the court. Unjustified criticism speaks more ill of you than him.

He’s 69. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Justices_of_the_Supreme_Court_of_the_United_States

Buzzy Ginsberg should go first, also Kennedy.

She thought she was going to edit the NYT, and got a tattoo.

Wrong again.

They fired her and hired a black man.

Who hires someone like this anyway? She's as ugly as she is stupid.

Who...who scrooce someone like this? NY men?

No wonder Woody married his daughter.

I posted this because I see it as a threat, in two ways.

First, its clearly a well-timed attempt to engulf Justice Thomas in the whole Me Too movement, taking advantage of recent allegations against Trump, the resignation of Rob Porter from Trump’s staff, etc.

And if that doesn’t succeed, the whole effort can further besmirch Thomas’s reputation and limit his current influence on the court and his legal legacy. How many future Sup.Ct. Justices would want to quote a former justice who had been so discredited?

Kennedy is likely to retire this summer, after the current court term. Thomas is likely to retire next summer (assuming that the Republicans hold onto the Senate). Both will want to ensure that they are replaced by a Republican President and will not want to roll the dice on who wins the 2020 election and maybe have to stick around another 8 years.

Ginsberg and Breyer are both now over 80, but neither will leave while Trump is President unless they leave feet first.
