Donald Trump's Mexico wall: Who is going to pay for it?
BBC News ^ | February 6, 2018 | Staff

President Donald Trump has set in motion his plan to build an "impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall" between the US and Mexico.

The border is about 1,900 miles (3,100 km) long and traverses all sorts of terrain.

Mr Trump says his wall will cover 1,000 miles and natural obstacles will take care of the rest. But how much will it cost and who is going to foot the bill?

[snip] Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell estimated it will cost between $12-15bn, as he addressed reporters at a Republican conference in Philadelphia.

Seems to me that ending Chain Migration and the Visa Lottery while giving the DACA folks a 10-12 year path to a United States Citizenship is worth at least the estimated cost of 15 billion.

The Progressives of course don't quite see it that way...10-12 years without being able to vote is not, was not their plan....pound sand Sen. Schumer!

Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas (California is lost...) should have their States input about building the wall...those states should have the "job rights" for their citizens; animal crossings etc.

Mr. President don’t worry about that. Not for one minute.

Just build it.

Now.

Who cares. Just build it. Now. Put the military on the border until it is done, then let border patrol take it back over for long term. This is a national emergency.
Treat it as such. Shoot anyone crossing illegally, that’ll stop immediate traffic while the wall is built.

Social Security and Medicare burn through the ENTIRE $25 BILLION in about a week. The price is in the noise, by federal standards. Even Texas alone could EASILY afford the entire wall, over several years.

So who the hell cares who pays...but it’s interesting that the Left seems REALLY INTERESTED. Never asked that about Obamacare, Student Loans, CHIPs, and God knows what else.

Not to mention the factories moving back here.

Build the wall, and they will come. And leave frustrated. And tell their friends.

Yes! I’ve long advocated a 10% Tax on Remittances. The wall would be paid for in 10 years.

Illegal aliens are costing America $134 BILLION ANNUALLY. Trump should just ask Congress for 10% of that number. This ain’t rocket science.

Yup. I find it amazing that so many think paying for a capital expenditure is always as simple as buying a quart of milk.

Any other country would shoot us if we attempted to sneak into their country. We had a real immigration system until Ted Kennedy and others screwed us. LBJ’s “Great Society” changed some from hard workers to the Gov owes me types.

If we don’t send some of “FBI’s finest” up to Canada to deal with Justin “Jihadi” Trudeau, we’re going to need a Northern Wall too.

I’m with you. I’m tired of letting in the sick and the poor and the criminal. Enough is enough. Change the rules....at least 50% of immigrants must ALREADY speak English, must have over $10k in bank account, must be coming in to a job that has been confirmed, must have skills or a profession that is in demand. What in the hell is wrong with picking folks who are an immediate asset, and not a liability?

I am sure that vast warehouses exist containing countless Millions, probably billions of seized drug money that has been accumulated by the US federal government over the last 10 years. Use that money to build the wall! To hell with all their lawyers in there Motions and their appeals about the seizures of Cash Money. Use it build the wall with it. And everything else that we can grab and cease from the Mexican criminals use it sell it use the money. We have warehouses full of this stuff already what is the point of just storing it up? For what? Use it

Sell wall bonds. The will will pay for itself anyway by the decreasing burden of illegal immigration.

Now you’re talking. No immigrant should ever be eligible for taxpayer benefits. That would go a long way toward solving the problem. Let the wall be funded by donations.
