The New York Times is reporting that there is a "secret alliance" between Egypt and Israel to combat ISIS along the Sinai border between the two countries.
The report claims that Israel has flown more than 100 missions in the last two years, striking targets in the terrorists' stronghold in Egypt with the full knowledge and cooperation of Cairo's government.
Egypt appeared unable to stop them, so Israel, alarmed at the threat just over the border, took action.
For more than two years, unmarked Israeli drones, helicopters and jets have carried out a covert air campaign, conducting more than 100 airstrikes inside Egypt, frequently more than once a week — and all with the approval of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The remarkable cooperation marks a new stage in the evolution of their singularly fraught relationship. Once enemies in three wars, then antagonists in an uneasy peace, Egypt and Israel are now secret allies in a covert war against a common foe.
"Remarkable cooperation" is an understatement. Al-Sisi is looking for any friend he can find, given he's got an extremely active terrorist group in the north and an increasingly aggressive Shia Iran stirring up trouble along its borders. An alliance -- even a surreptitious one with Israel -- makes perfect sense from a strategic point of view.
Their collaboration in the North Sinai is the most dramatic evidence yet of a quiet reconfiguration of the politics of the region. Shared enemies like ISIS, Iran and political Islam have quietly brought the leaders of several Arab states into growing alignment with Israel

Yup. If it was up to Obama, Al Sisi wouldn’t even be in power, let alone Egypt and Israel cooperating.
That said, Israel had better stay far stronger than all of it’s neighbors, because the day it isn’t is the day they will be destroyed...with present-day cooperation being wholly irrelevant then.
I think Trump is for this and totally supports it.
But it was happening before Trump was elected.
And Sisi and Obama were NOT friends.
Anwar Sadat was assassinated because of that treaty.
Thanks SeekAndFind. I'm sure the newspaper of wretched is publishing this in order to solidify relations between these two natural allies -- and not trying to undermine al-Sisi among Egyptians who would find cooperation with Israel to be a dealbreaker.

You all are correct, Egypt has been cooperating in enforcing the Peace Treaty ever since it was signed,even under difficult conditions for Egypt, not new but very good.

Look at the cooperation with Israel happening right now in the Middle-East.
Clinton, Bush, Obama, all made promises about peace initiatives.
Trump just upends policy, and all of a sudden there are amazing signs of improvement.
That Arab summit where they all condemned terrorism, it was a big deal. Now Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt have telegraphed they want to work with Israel.
Israel has been described by some of them as a jewel in the region as far as an economic stable nation was concerned.

Yes, before Morsi came to power and later after he was removed, I had good friends in Cairo who educated me about Sisi and from the day he arrested Morsi and the MB Terrorist leaders he has not wavered.
He is extremely popular in Egypt except for the Islamist crowd. They hate him and that’s OK. They know what he will do with them.
The cooperation goes further than Egypt.
The cooperation includes Egypt, Jordan and the entire 6 Gulf Cooperation Council nations
