Democrats say their mountain of cash looks like a wave

WASHINGTON — At least 45 Democratic challengers in 34 districts raised more money last quarter than the Republican member of Congress they're hoping to defeat in November, according to new campaign finance reports.

And that figure, which Democrats compiled and were touting to show their strength, does not include the dozens of places where GOP incumbents have retired, leaving behind open seats that are generally considered more vulnerable.

Democratic candidates across the country are being buoyed by a flood of cash as the party aims to win the 24 seats from Republicans they need to retake the House of Representatives in this year's midterm elections.

The first test will come in a March special election in western Pennsylvania, where Democrat Conor Lamb reported raising more than $557,000 to GOP State Rep. Rick Saccone's roughly $215,000 haul.

Fundraising is no guarantee of success, and most incumbents still have larger cash stockpiles thanks to years of fundraising. But the new Federal Election Commission reports from the fourth quarter of last year are another sign of the momentum Democrats hope will crest into a wave this fall.

The list of places Democratic challengers out-raised GOP incumbents includes both perennial battlegrounds and districts the party have typically not contested.

Beware while the enemy plots...

Holding the Senate may ultimately be more important because of the Courts (as that will impact the country for decades), but stopping the Democrats with the House would block them harassing the administration with bogus investigations...and the only way to blunt bogus narratives in the media and from the Democrats is for them to fail.

Many DIMs may be in prison for their sedition and traitorous behavior by then. Can they run for office if so?

This is from NBC News, an arm of the DNC. Last I read, the DNC was in DEBT to the tune of $2 million dollars. Hillary bled them dry. Even Donna Brazille (sp?) was saying they were broke.

Where’s this Magic Money coming from all of a sudden? Hillary divesting herself of all assets before heading to prison?

*SNORT* Man, I crack myself UP!

The article is discussing what INDIVIDUAL candidates have raised for their own campaign, not what national parties have raised.

The DNC coffers are pretty bare.

True but these individual Democrat candidates have their own funding which according to this article, is mounting an formidable war chest.

This is not fake news but a warning not to be taken lightly.

I still don't believe it!

But our side/guys should act as though it is true. And they should start talking like and supporting Trump !

This is diversion. The article states the individual campaigns raised more than their opposition campaigns. In safe red districts that is not only true but expected.

The DNC is in trouble. Debt laden and no donors.

Conclusion. Donors see 2018 as a rathole and a waste of their money. As the scope of the corruption is revealed, the DNC will be lucky if the creditors don’t foreclose

Yes, although as some others pointing out in comments, the DNC is not doing well with fundraising. The RNC meanwhile is having record fundraising, and would be using that to fund GOTV, which ought to be even better with all of the new data from the 2016 election cycle than it was then...perhaps that can offset any fundraising advantages by individual Dem candidates.

And if poll numbers continue to improve for President Trump and the GOP, the donors may end up changing their minds who to give the cash to as the cycle goes on.

RATs apparently didn’t listen to the news today nor the SOTU address. Just tips of the iceberg coming their way.

Perhaps their money is coming from Russia, ya think?

It's not the money; it's the message. Hillary Clinton outspent President Trump by a zillion to one, and she still lost.

No matter the political party, cash can't turn a squish candidate into a Studly Doright.

Big donor Democrats are expressing unhappiness with the DNC, but supporting individual candidates. It has been noted for some time that big Dem Jewish donors have been shifting their donations into PACs instead of the FNC.

PACs allow more control to the donors.

Big donor Republicans are rewarding the RNC for their lukewarm support for, or even hostility to, Pres. Trump.

I just had a thought.......

Perhaps some of the tax savings by both corporate pacs and individuals will become political contributions. Wonder which party will get that money.

“The Republican 2018 campaign was financed by tax savings”

Ha
