What struck me odd about the applauding was how it came across when victims were recognized.
The parents who lost their child to MS13, for example. I know (most of) the gallery was attempting to show respect and support, but it seemed strange to be applauding the parents after Trump mentioned their loss.
We need some other gesture to show respect. Not kneeling or saluting, but something... Maybe a bowed head.
