Had a friend’s Dad die (he was only 60!) last week due to flu complications, and then he ended up with a massive heart attack - not sure which came first, but still. A very sad situation all the way around.
You won’t catch me anywhere near a Mall or a movie theater or any place public outside of my usual rounds for a while. I’m really not looking forward to seeing my Dad at Assisted Living this upcoming week. It’s supposed to snow, so I can use that as an excuse - already caught onehelluva head cold from that place. Germ-laden Old Folks! ;)
No, Thanks!
There wasnt flu vaccinations when I was growing up, somehow we survived.
If Americans were not VAIN, people would be wearing Masks and elimination 75% of the problem.
PHOOEY!!!!
"M-O-O-N... that spells flu."
Didn’t they tell us that the flu shot was only 10% effective this year? It discouraged me from getting the shot.
I was SICK a few weeks ago with flu and my wife also. Both of us had flu shots late September and both got the flu late November. It took me almost three weeks to get over it.
“annual flu shots are recommended for everyone age 6 months or older.”
An informative bit of information to provide would be:
Does the current vaccine cover H3N2 variant ??
Wife and I both got the flu at the same time. We both had shots. Took 3 weeks to get over it. I’m still wearing a mask at doctor’s offices and hospitals. I’ve been told just because you had one strain does not make you immune from other strains.
Had a touch of the flu last weekend which predictably turned into a nasty cold. The flu is gone. The cold is lingering.
My g-grandfather, g-grandmother, two of their children and an infant grandchild all died of the flu in 1918 within 5 days of each other. My parents were born in 1918. It was against the odds they survived.
And this is why I won’t be traveling the next few weeks...
Cousin just passed yesterday morning from flu. 55
I would like to see the numbers between those who were vaccinated and those who were not. (and who got the flu)
They have it. Show it.
My great niece just passed away at 3 months old with the flu. Our family is devastated. Prayers appreciated.
(from the article):" The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the flu that is blanketing every state except Hawaii is growing more intense and deadly.
So far this season, the flu has claimed the lives of at least 30 children, according to the latest CDC report."
"The peak of flu season is in February, so we have about a month for things to get worse," so said Dr. Manny Alvarez.
The very young, the very old, and those with suppressed immune systems are most vulnerable.
Best bet : Avoid crowds and large groups, take precautions, make use of masks and towel wipes in your grocery store, wash hands frequently, etc., etc.,...
I’ve been down for the count with this nasty cold so have avoided as much contact with the public as possible.
When I go grocery shopping, I do it at off peak hours and buy enough for more than a week so I don’t have to keep going for little things.
And I ALWAYS wash my hands very thoroughly when I get home.
