An ongoing mantra of the left is that everyone is a victim, with a singular carve-out for white men. A large group of the female population has embraced this chant.
While there may be a number of grievances put forth by this movement, there also comes a theme that is particularly dangerous: the feminist attack on masculinity. This is derived not only from feminists; it comes from the left in general.
There has emerged a war on masculinity. Why? Because masculine men are harder to control under tyrannical socialism. The modern beta male, on the other hand, craves socialism. This is why the left has branded masculinity as toxic: it stands as a roadblock to their endgame.
Leftists blame, of all things, masculinity for the recent spate of sexual harassment scandals. For eons, masculinity has been considered a natural and even required trait of being male, but it is now apparently the reason for deviancy. Who knew?
The glaring problem with this argument is that the men who are typically being accused of such transgressions are anything but masculine. Sexual harassment is bipartisan; both liberal and conservative men in positions of power seem to harass women with aplomb. But where is this referenced masculinity? Harvey Weinstein? Al Franken? Louis CK? I posit that a consistent theme among most accused harassers is a complete lack of masculinity. I would go so far as to suggest that the lack of masculinity is a contributing factor to this problem.
Most of these accused public figures are modern men – perhaps not quite beta males, but certainly closer to Obama's now infamous Pajama Boy than they are to John Wayne. Are men who display a lack of masculinity less likely to victimize women? Obviously not.

Of course no true conservative would ever pit feminists against men of color over this argument.
It is better that true conservatives remain true to their principles even if they end up looking like stooges.
Leftists only oppose masculinity in white males. The gangsta culture of blacks and Chicanos is celebrated by the Left. In other words, the masculinity of American cowboys is “toxic” (in feminist lingo), while the thug masculinity of rappers and street gangs is a wonderful part of their culture.
The attack on masculinity is, in large part, an attack on reason and logic. It is based on feelings and emotion.
In some ways, this discussion reminds me of the silly philosophy of Star Wars.
There are two sides: Light and Dark / Jedi and Sith.
It is important to maintain balance within the Force.

And then — the Sith are allowed 1 Master and 1 Apprentice.

Feminism believes that Men and Women are totally the same. Which is why Women are always right and why Men are thoroughly despicable all the time.
The attack on masculinity is a direct mockery of God, who describes, in Genesis 2, His Creation of Man, and then Woman, from Adam’s rib ~ she to be a helpmate.
Where was all this “masculinity” when The Women were taking over our society?

That’s definitely part of it too. Since logical and scientific thinking are also associated with “toxic masculinity,” the PC Left believes that math and science need to be reformed to fit the subjective, touchy-feely mode of fuzzy thought that they’re more comfortable with.
Funny...I wear a wide brimmed hat during the winter, because I have worn them all my life and feel comfortable with them, so...I feel natural wearing it, and others probably perceive that.
Today, a woman came up to me and said she really liked the hat, and it made me look like a “bad dude”!
Now, most guys I know will take that as a compliment (and I did, I admit) but at the same time, it occurred to me that there is a segment of the modern male population that wouldn’t.
I mused to myself that “liberal, pear-shaped, man-bun pajama boys” might say “I want to look non-threatening and approachable, friendly and benign...” and nearly spit on the ground just thinking of it.
I don’t want to appear angry or malign to strangers. But my whole adult life, my default demeanor when going from point A to point B is to look like I am ready for action if need be...so don’t mess with me. I think people who wish to do people harm look for people who look like easy marks, or...vulnerable.
I saw the headline of your thread, and I thought how true that was...there IS a war on masculinity because it is perceived to be “toxic” by the Left (how many times have we seen that in the last twenty years or so?)

Actually it is to cut down on the competition to control the coming blight of socialism - you can’t say that Stalin, Mao and Hitler were squeamish beta wimps, can you?
Indeed. It started, of course, with small measures in the 60's when men were not allowed to be men, at least if they had any hope of enjoying the company of "enlighted women".
For instance, when opening the car door for a woman was deemed an insult.
From the beginning the intention was to move the target from "equalization" to toxicity...as the long march to "remake America" progressed.
The 2dA doesn't present as much of a threat if a sizable number of possible trigger-pullers are taught to be effeminate males.
And, those lessons can begin in kindergarten, perhaps even earlier.
