laplata: Any ideas for CO or WY. Would you recommend Durango?
>><<
Thanks for requesting my input, beaversmom.
Yes, I’d recommend Durango or about any place on the Western Slope (western Colorado). We need all the conservatives we can get.
The Western Slope is the most conservative part of Colo., other than a few places like Colo. Springs (The Springs).
My daughter and her family live in southwest Wyoming in a town of about 14,000 called Evanston. It is nice and like most of Wyoming, very conservative. Salt Lake City, Utah, with all the amenities of a big city, is about an hour away..
Durango is a neat town.
All suggestions aside, please consider that you may want to visit kids and grandkids as you retire.
We have ten grandkids and despite loving the southwest, it takes us 7,500 miles of driving each year to see them all. Now I will caution, as soon as you move to an area to be right near ones kids, they do likely move, so there is a balance to seek. I traveled quite a bit in my work and the southwest was my destination at retirement by choice.
Just wondering if anybody could comment on Grand Junction Colorado. Been through there and really like the Bluffs and the entry into some beautiful Canyon Country south of there.
You are welcome, lp. Thanks for responding. You know CO well.
Doesn’t Durango get regularly snowed in during winter.
At the least, you have to LOVE snow. I loved Durango in summer and poured over how I could move their in retirement, but I HATE snow and knew it would not work for me. Lucky for those who love snow.
