As expected, stars of film and television blacked out the red carpet of the Golden Globes on Sunday.
Women and men across the industry wore black in support of the #MeToo movement and gender equality in light of the recent wave of Hollywood sexual harassment allegations. Many on the carpet also wore pins supporting Times Up, an initiative recently founded by 300 prominent women in entertainment to fight harassment and abuse in the workplace. The group, led by stars like Reese Witherspoon, Shonda Rhimes, Kerry Washington and America Ferrera, was the one to organize the all-black carpet and took the message to social media with #WhyWeWearBlack.
Red carpet reporters made an effort to prioritize asking about the #metoo movement rather than the typical Who are you wearing? Stars were vocal about their reasons for wearing black to the awards show and what the movement meant to them. Emma Watson told Variety of her experiences with harassment, saying that I have experienced the full spectrum, but I think for me whats amazing is my experience is not unique, the experience of my friends is not unique, the experience of my colleague is not unique, this issue is so systemic, so structural.
The Beauty and the Beast star, who brought womens activist Marai Larasi as her date to the ceremony, said the movement made her very emotional and added, You realize if you speak to most women, they have an experience, they have a story, and were just scratching the surface of this which is really crazy.

So everyone has been outed now right? No more secrets?
Or in that big room of hypocrites, was there someone who knows something that hasn’t been told yet? Hmmm...
Be interesting to see if this publicity stunt goosed the ratings...
Those ratings are pathetic.
Meryl Streep knew. They all knew.
But remained silent.
Just because they go to the awards show in their negligees is no reason to sexually harass them! Are there no therapists in Hollywood, though?
. . . not to mention the irony of doing so in an awards program called the “golden globes.”
Didn’t Reese Witherspoon say she was sexually harassed at age 16, but did nothing (except go on to collect millions)? What a hypocrite.
They do some pointless meaningless thing NOW because they DIDN’T do anything but kowtow when it mattered. They were revealed as the slobs that they actuallycare.
Photo: That guy on the left could eat cob-corn through a picket fence.
Probably under the bleachers like Belushi in Animal House.
Who watches these award shows? They seem entirely redundant.
The amount of work involved with getting 2 or 4 or 6 huge animals harnessed and reined up was very impressive.
And that was all just the behind the scenes stuff before the showings/competitions.
Burly dads with their wives and kids, all of whom loved their animals, and nary a lace covered, hypocritical boob in sight.
The contrast between the folks doing all that work in hopes of winning a mere ribbon and the type of idiocracy on display at those narcisstic 'award' farces couldn't be more stark.
Liberal logic: “I shall protest the sexualization and exploitation of women by dressing like a whore!”.....smh....
Morticia Addams was way ahead of the curve.
” stars” like who?
Who exactly makes these women “ stars”?
These people are beyond nauseating. How anyone takes them seriously, I will never know.
I agree. But they’re amongst their own kind.......all show, no substance as usual! Symbolism over reality as usual.
“gender equality”
Oh, but I thought there weren’t two “genders”, but instead a whole spectrum of genders encompassing a whole range of possibilities? So now there are 55 “genders” that need to be made “equal”?
If “Times Up”, then all of you in Hollywood, I mean ALL OF YOU, start naming names and sexual assaults. Right now.
If you cannot or will not do that, then your charade last night is just that, a charade.
HOLLYWOOD KNEW, THEY ALL KNEW.
