Excellent point, but then I always vote R
Very well said.
Residents of high tax states will soon feel the previously ignored pain of their state redistributing their income when it becomes not deductible. It will really hurt and could cause voters to rebel against the democrat re-distribitutors at the State House and Governor’s office.
This is my single favorite feature of the tax bill, and I’m guessing that Potus likes it just as much because for several reasons. #1 is putting his thumb into the eye of every Dem governor sweetened by the fact they earned it. Of course he’ll say it was fairness but he has a formidable blood lust below the surface.
Interesting how they looooove to harp on wanting to pay their fair share,UNTIL IT ACTUALLY HAPPENS....
If this is true, I can’t wait to see NY and CAL and ILL get their panties in a wad. But if the Dems get control of the federal gov’t, they’ll just bail them out.
Just before the 2018 elections..We may have a 50 state republican governorship...Wonder if Hawaii,California,New York and Illnois will switch to all republican????
Shocking!
Im starting to like this tax bill.
The problem with the New York and California refugees is that they vote for the same socialist crap in their new states.
I have come to believe that the proviso to eliminate the state and local tax deduction is probably the most profound component of the new tax law. Most of the bill is about stimulating the economy. But this part strikes at the heart of the Blue State Racket. It could further accelerate trends already in motion—much like the President’s remarks on NFL protests turned a mere trickle into a flood.
Those NYers and others fleeing high tax states will elect Dems who will raise taxes. Bet on it. Just need to look at taxes in Nassau and Suffolk counties since NYCers fled the city for the Burbs.
and they’ll Trump - not their own leaders -
Totally. Dry. Eyes.

I already voted with my feet, escaped Mexifornia 2 years ago. Couldnt be happier to be back in the US!
I agree, anyone who is disgusted enough with the liberal state will leave. We just walked away, moved with no jobs ahead of us. It all worked out great in the end, keeping our fingers crossed and relying on faith. So no one can tell me it cant be done and that they cant leave!
I think the prior way it was done, mingling state and federal taxes its probably illegal. Those two entities are unrelated to each other, so making one deductible from the other makes no sense.
I saw trumps fingerprints all over that tax bill. The Republicans in Congress werent smart enough to think of that little vengeful tidbit.
This high tax state (PA) Republican has checked the “tax calculator” sites and MIGHT barely see a $200 decrease—maybe not. The only tax calculator that counts is the one that I will used in the filing season of 2019.
If I ends up paying more rather than less I will work ceaselessly to primary the GOP-E that sold us out...and vote Libertarian in the generals.
Yeah, you think it is funny and “justice” to punish the blue states but you have forgotten that there are many otherwise conservatives in swing states who tipped the election for DJT who could just as easily swing the other way.
FReegards.
