When they market themselves as medicinals, make claims of treating or curing serious diseases and conditions, and may contain dangerous ingredients like belladonna at wildly varying strengths or ingredients not even listed on the label, they put peoples health and lives at risk. Thats exactly what the FDA should be overseeing.
Or think of it this way, when you buy a box of breakfast cereal, that cereal has been, processed, packaged and labeled under much higher standards than homeopathic remedies, which since 1988 have not had to meet any sort of standards.
