Blaming his decision to turn a sports network into a left wing, social justice garbage network on the booze or the drugs
Rearranging the deck chairs.
I’d be bailing on that network too, with or without having a substance abuse problem!
Unfortunately the Disney-Fox deal has bought them a reprieve.

There MUST be a lot more involved here, e.g., pending serious accusations against him, etc.
No one resigns so abruptly from such a senior corporate executive position AND cites personal substance abuse issues, unless they are trying to escape even more serious problems.
If he were not trying to build sympathy for his situation he would simply take a leave of absence for “reasons of health” that might turn into a permanent departure later. His immediate departure while citing substance abuse problems suggests there is a lot more to this.
