Academic Search for Male Role Models
Accuracy in Academia ^ | December 14, 2017 | Malcolm A. Kline

When academics look for male role models, you never know what they’re going to find. "For one thing, there is not much substantive evidence that male role models are decisive in healthy boys’ development," Michael Kimmel writes in the December 15, 2017 issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education. "They might be nice to have, but the male role model--the elementary-school teacher, the father, the stern but supportive coach--by himself, as a single variable, doesn’t really have much of an independent effect on a boys development."

"And that's why single moms, lesbian moms, female teachers, and female coaches can provide exactly what boys need to develop a healthy identity." Kimmel is a distinguished professor of sociology and gender studies at Stony Brook University.

He also offers us "some campus role models we could all emulate," including:

• "The students who campaign for gender-neutral bathrooms around the campus because they don't want others to feel uncomfortable."

• "The alumni who threaten to collectively withhold their money until the administration addresses racial, sexual and gender inequalities."

"Here's to you, unsung heroes and heroines, the ones who support the vulnerable and challenge the powerful, regardless of the personal cost." Of course, he doesn't indicate what personal cost his heroes and heroines have paid.

Have academics reached the point where they can't tell the difference between inquiry and introspection?

They know the difference. This is social engineering and the mental and spiritual emasculation of young men, conducted by the dykes who hate them.

He specifically ignores the cost those policies incur on individuals and society.

This article is the dumbest thing I’ve read today, and I’ve been here all morning. Boys don’t want a sensitive castrati for a role model.

These people have a sick world view. Hopefully their progeny, if they have any, will find role models on their own. Beats me how they think our culture would have developed without actual males.
After all how far did the Amazonian women get?

So in other words. who needs men?
No one. Not even future men.

Mike Rowe.

A decent man who works hard.

Not difficult.

There are other possibilities, of course. But the academics will choose Pajama Boy, or Obama, or Justin Bieber, or some other loser as a role model. Just point to someone fulfilling the time-honored male role of decency, respect and hard work. Done.

They are SO desperate to validate their anti-male biases.

I work on marriage annulment cases and read people’s life stories in their petitions for annulment. Lack of firm, yet loving, direction from a good father ruins lives. It ruins the young man, who grows up without the example of good manhood. In the accounts I have read, the young man ends up with no good purpose. Life is all about women, money and personal satisfaction. There is no strength of character for doing the self-sacrificing love that marriage and family life require. This creates sorrow in the lives of wives and children.

Fathers matter so much. People have to look at the real world results, not just their theories intended to make single mothers feel better.

Yet, asked to explain inner-city Chicago and other similar urban plantations, he would be speechless.

Radical feminists and their allies in academia have made the ideological decision that male role models in general and fathers in particular are superfluous - easily replaced by single mothers, lesbian couples, and the welfare state.

Single mother households have become the norm in much of the black community (albeit for reasons that have nothing to do with feminist ideology), and we've all seen how well that has worked out for them.

Great question and since everything is personal now, and the personal is political in this great voyeuristic age, I think the answer is yes.

In the Army I was in a high security group. Most of us were college educated Caucasians. My buddy was a black kid from Detroit. I asked him one day how he managed to get there. He said simple: when I was a lad and I began doing my sidewalk act in front of our apartment, my dad would come out, grab me by the ear and take me inside. The point is it is more than just role model, it is a father (male) who applies direction. I know in my case, I followed in my dad's footsteps. However, on a few occasions he would say I suggest you not do that. Funny how his direction was always right. If it had been my mom, I am sure I would not have listened. His advice kept me out of trouble. Interestingly, the older I got the smarter he got.

Any academics ever suggest that female role models are unnecessary?

When academics look for male role models...

How about people who can actually DO things?

Academic: An individual who is incapable of or unwilling to create or provide goods or services of value to others, who pontificates and expects to be paid for it, usually from public funds.
