This particular incident dates back to 2006 when the dems won congress. Hastings and the notorious Spencer Oliver who was the executive director of the Helsinki engineered the firing of Alcee Hastings’ victim Winsome Packer.
By the way, Alcee Hastings original criminal trial for bribery involved, as a witness, the DC mob boss Joe “The Possum” Nesline who ran rackets in DC that included prostitution and sexual blackmail. Nesline was connected to Heidi Rikan, the Madame who ran a call-girl ring across from the Democratic HQ at the Watergate in 1972.
It was Alcee Hastings’s close friend and colleague Spencer Oliver whose phone was tapped in May-June 1972.

Ida “Maxie” Wells, whose desk was the target of the Watergate crew, would become Jimmy Carter’s traveling secretary from 1975-76 and then become Carter’s secretary 1977-78 at the White House.
