Meanwhile molesters at the Boston Globe are being identified...
The company announced it would close the Herald Americanmaking Boston a one-newspaper townon December 3, 1982. When the deadline came, Australian media baron Rupert Murdoch was negotiating to buy the paper and save it. He closed on the deal after 30 hours of talks with Hearst and newspaper unionsand five hours after Hearst had sent out notices to newsroom employees telling them they were terminated. The newspaper announced its own survival the next day with a full-page headline: “You Bet We’re Alive!”[10]
In February 1994, Murdoch’s News Corporation was forced to sell the paper, in order that its subsidiary Fox Television Stations could legally consummate its purchase of Fox affiliate WFXT (Channel 25) because Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy included language in an appropriations barring one company from owning a newspaper and television station in the same market.
How much will Bezos pour into the WAPO before it’s declared a failure too?
I hope GateHouse reinvests in it.
Plagiarizers out of work?!
MAGA -— I’m tired of winning!
Of course Ted Kennedy put a clause in there which knocked out the Boston Herald; it was the conservative alternative to the Globe and the Dems are used to using federal coercive powers to punish enemies and reward friends. Ever heard of Robert Mueller, Comey, Strozk or Ohr?? How is it different now?
Next?
This was a business ploy to get out of the pension costs.... they rolled the assets into another Corp he owns.
Here is the newest announcement from an hour ago.
Boston Herald Publisher Patrick J. Purcell announced today that the media company with its flagship Boston Herald tabloid has reached an agreement with GateHouse Media, LLC for them to acquire the company’s operational assets. The purchase is subject to court approval.
The announcement came this afternoon as Purcell gathered management and staff in the Herald newspaper’s offices on Fargo Street in Boston’s Seaport District. He spoke first with his long-time management team and immediately following with staff from across all departments.
Ping.
“How much will Bezos pour into the WAPO before its declared a failure too?”
Doesn’t matter.
WaPo is Bezos’ blog. He’s a multi-billionaire. He can afford a really big megaphone that loses tens of millions a year.
>> Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy included language in an appropriations barring one company from owning a newspaper and television station in the same market.
But Time was a magazine and CNN was network, not station, so it was all good for the libs to control thought...
He's got John Podesta over their managing the Hitliary angles. It is just a matter of time before WaPoop takes an unrecoverable nose dive.
I hate it when I click on one of their stupid articles and I am old that I only get three more free articles before I am going to have to shell out some dough to read their screed.
These newspapers are going to have to come up with some other business model if they plan to survive. They are acting like there are still newspaper boys walking the streets and everyone shells out their scheckels for every every word they print.
I hope A LOT!!
Cause it has zero effect and I like seeing him lose money :)
I it’s a drop in an ocean for him
Megaphones only work when there’s someone listening :)
Did’t affect the primaries. Didn’t affect the election.
Not really affecting anything except ulcers for the left :)
Globe prints the Herald under longterm agreement.Herald moved from former HQ to more modest digs in Seaport District.Globe also moving from huge facility on Morrissey Blvd Boston, to downtown. They are owned by Red Sox owner John Henry no doubt to acquire prime real estate.

I used to think that meant Everyone who belongs to FR got the post lol
As for Boston news outlets, I know WAY too little to really be commenting on what happened or what will be going forward.
I am GUESSING, from your post, the status quo will continue? I could be very wrong.
Yes, but unfortunately, the wrong one.
Boston Herald is one of - if not the only - big-city conservative newspapers left in the country.
When I lived there in 1993-94, it was wonderful to be able to actually page through a newspaper that did make me puke every page.
No, I will rejoice when the Boston Globe closes. I am sad about the Herald.
