Top US general says Taliban 'living in comfort' in Pakistan

While Nicholson acknowledged that the Pakistanis had taken military action against other violent extremist groups, he said that Islamabad needed to act against the Afghan Taliban, which has found sanctuary inside Pakistan since 2001.

"The offensive operations against sanctuaries would be in other areas that we've identified with the Pakistani leadership on a number of occasions," he said. The general would not say how much time the US would allow for Pakistan to change its behavior before taking additional actions to compel Islamabad to crack down on Afghan Taliban sanctuaries in Pakistan.

"As you've heard our president say, as you've heard all of our senior leaders say, we have got to see movement on this reduction of sanctuary and support for those insurgents and terrorists operating from Pakistan who are attacking our forces and our coalition diplomats and forces, as well as the Afghans," Nicholson said.

...

Nicholson said the US and Afghan militaries had recently carried out a series of operations targeting Taliban-linked opium production facilities in Helmand province, operations he said cost the Taliban as much as $10 million in revenue.

He also said Trump's new Afghan strategy represented a "game change."

This is no secret. Our Intelligence Agencies have known this for years.
Pakistan is the haven for the Taliban, al Qaeda, ISIS and every terrorist group in the M.E.
Yet even Trump pays the leaders of Pakistan billions each year.
Time to shut the spigot and tighten the knot.

Shades of Vietnam. The bad guys could hang out and gear up in Cambodia and Laos, then insert across the border at will.

We need to find a way to get completely out of that part of the world insofar as any direct fighting is concerned. I absolutely loathe Boosh II for the deaths of our young men ( mostly young men) and the pi$$ing away of three trillion bucks or more on that effing sandpile of $hit people. Give the Israelis’ some land in Montana and have them walk away from “The Holy Land!” Oh, and one more thing, kick every last sand monkey out of this country permanently.

Top US general says Taliban 'living in comfort' in Pakistan

Osama bin Laden was living in comfort in Pakistan, surrounded by his wives, children and pornos. It'd be news if the Taliban wasn't doing the same.

Our treatment of Pakistan has been absolutely masochistic through the decades - we give them billions in military and foreign aid, they take our money and our help, work against our interests and harbor our enemies, and we give them some more money and help.

If the Pakistani military went into the Wazir valley in force to clean out the Taliban, they would get their ass handed to them.

From Wana up to Miram Shah, it is nothing but a bunch of armed, fanatic tribesmen who would cut the Pakis into shreds.

The vast majority of Pakistanis outside of the Wazir valley would like nothing better than to reform with India and live like the Indians do. But the Wazirs keep them in the stone age.
