No he's not, I didn't read that at all. The author is saying that it's not the over prescribing of opioids by doctors that are creating the epidemic and cites the 13% emergency room overdoses as people who actually started due to pain.
I have been offered and turned down opioids routinely at the VA Hospitals because I knew I didn’t need them -— and the medical and pharmacy staff reacted with such surprise when I refused to accept the pills. One even suggested that I keep the pills just in case I knew someone else who needed them, since they were going to have to throw away the refused medication. My Dad came home from the VA Hospital with huge bottles of hundreds of pills that he didn’t need and never took. I can’t begin to name all the addicted Veterans I have known. I have this suspicion, perhaps unfounded, that the VA “Health Care” system gives Veterans opioids to make them go away. And just refill the pills through the mail, so very easy. Finally, one by one, Veterans get addicted and end up under a bridge somewhere. Then they just go away.
Doctor shopping is a common technique that junkies use
But how am I going to afford my Cialis.
Plenty of doctors deserve blame
Many doctors prescribe irresponsibly. Not just with opiods. With antibiotics. With medicines that are contraindicated. Abd opiods are not prescribed in a bubble. Doctors know the addiction potential.
Go to Craigslist San Diego, on the front page there is a search bar on left...type in xanax
legit I have ms and take xanax and run out, got some from another ad a year ago. Hot little blonde delivers..I even got her to really deliver her goods to me $$
I noticed that as well. When somebody has an oversupply of a valuable commodity it often gets sold, that's where the pipeline is coming from. Docs should not give people more than a 5 day supply.
Lengthy but great article about how a New Orleans pharmacist took down a notorious pill pushing doctor.

Details?
wow , opened my eyes. Hot little blond is a bonus!
Doctors have plenty of blame for this crisis...
I’ve seen worker comp doctors prescribe a 10 day supply of Vicodin for a two stitch cut one of my employees got on the job...
When I informed him he could not work in his CDL driver position while taking the drug, they went right in the toilet...
Problem solved....
Turning in would make me feel *wonderful*.Passing by would make several of my doctors smile with approval. And if Prime Rib was illegal I could add that fact to the smiles of approval as reasons to pass by.
drs may have prescribed too much to grannies and young sloths...
many people found out that they could feign injuries, and subjective ailments to get not only on disability but a constant flow of legal narcotics...
Eff opiod crisis
It’s like Salem
people also have to understand how the Joint Commission that oversees hospitals was a BIG reason opioids took off...
ah, this is the American populace we're talking about....you know the ones who run to the doc because of "sinus infection" and are let down if an antibiotic isn't prescribed immediately....
dirty little secret is that Naprosyn (aleve) works very well for most arthritic pain but you can't tell people that over the counter meds are more effective than narcs...
we need to look in the mirror...
Someone needs to get this to TRUMP. He would get the credit.
In my profession I see more bad docs than good docs.
I once took a deposition of a renowned orthopedic surgeon who stated that in 35 years of doing spinal surgeries he never once wrote a “triplicate”. He told his patients that after they left the hospital, if they wanted narcotics that they would have to find a new doctor.
That guy was a good doc.
Let’s hope Kershaw wasn’t given narcotics. You don’t want to mask pain if you are a pitcher. It can result in permanent damage. If anti-inflammatories don’t stop the pain, then the problem is going to be exacerbated if you were to go out and throw a ball at 90 mph.
I once tried throwing a ball as hard as I could with a radar gun. It clocked in at about 60mph. I can’t imagine the mechanics to produce a 90mph fast ball. These guys have change ups in the 80’s.
The problem is the a$$hole druggies - total wastes of skin and air. There may be something more useless than a junkie, but I'm not sure what (maybe a NYT editorial writer or a Democrat senator?)
How, exactly, do you know that?
Human pain is not quantifiable.
Doctors cannot read minds.
Why should people who have severe pain be punished because 2% of the population wants to get high on opioids?
Here are the consequences of this utterly bogus opioid crisis:
(1) Most drug companies will quit the business, and the price of opioid pain killers will double or triple.
(2) Most doctors will quit prescribing opioids, for any patient.
(3) Completely useless “drug treatment” centers and “pain clinics” will sprout like mushrooms - paid for with your tax money.
(4) Thousands of Americans will be forced to endure severe pain because they can't afford opioid pain killers or because they can't find a prescribing doctor.
Full Disclosure...
I am a life long runner with exceptionally high pain tolerance.
My only experience with pain killers was two Percodans after hernia surgery 20 years ago, and generic aspirin for rare headaches.
