Donald Trumps grip on the Republican Party is so secure that his enemies draw a warm bath and open their veins rather than face the violent death that awaits them in their primaries. Thats the real meaning of Jeff Flakes act of political seppuku this week. His speech from the Senate floor about the need to defend democratic norms is not the beginning of some heroic Republican resistance, the opening salvo of a civil warbecause Flake has no army. Bob Corker has no army. John McCain and Mitt Romney and George W. Bush have no armies. It cant be a civil war when all the troops are on one side: Trumps.
Trump was a celebrity, and hes an instinctively gifted campaigner. He spoke political truths, however crudely, that the public longed to hear. But thats the point: they longed to hear what Trump had to say about Americas raw deals and the wars we dont win any more because no one in the political establishment of either party dared to voice such thoughts. Execrable leadership by respectable Republicans and Democrats created the conditions that led to Trump

“It cant be a civil war when all the troops are on one side: Trumps.”
OUTSTANDING. When 90% of Republicans voted for Trump and pretty much that percentage still supports Trump, it’s not a civil war - it’s just a handful of angry people, formerly at the top, magnified by the media, who are so removed from the reality of what they were entrusted to run that they had NO CLUE as to the degree they were despised. Now that they’re finally finding out, they are reacting as any bunch of 2 year olds would.
What’s interesting is that for all their faults, the Democrat leadership does not have nearly this level of disconnect with their voters. If you think about it, Bernie, Hillary, the DNC leadership, and their Congressional leaders basically were all on the same (sordid) page on just about every major issue. Nothing like our divisions on Immigration (first and foremost), but also abortion, gays, and even the First Amendment (at least for Trump).
BINGO!
The links are to the safest web site out there...YOUTUBE!
I would much rather you had a chance to see actual recorded video’s, so that you can form your own unbiased opinion.
See tagline for answer.
They'd have better luck juggling flaming chainsaws while roller skating than selling that load.
Yes, but I couldn’t tell that.
It’s now 100% GOPe.
Execrable leadership by respectable Republicans and Democrats created the conditions that led to Trump
Whoop misread that...lol. It’s exactly correct.
Exactly correct.
Pat Buchanan said it: “The differences between the two beltway parties are inconsequential.”
Thanks, I went and looked at the first one, the second was unavailable.
I have never trusted Cruz on this issue.
At times he talks like he’s on our side and other times he’s handing out teddy bears and soccer balls to the illegal aliens.
“Donald Trumps grip on the Republican Party is so secure that his enemies draw a warm bath and open their veins rather than face the violent death that awaits them in their primaries.”
HHAA. That’s a great opening line!
So true!
I mouse over a link and its URL appears just over my taskbar, without my having to click on it. It’s a very handy thing to have and I assumed everyone else had it, too, as it is native to Windows and required no app.
I watched this one, too.
Ted Cruz is not what his fervent followers think he is.
The author nails it.
Bravo!
Thanks, I have that too but didn’t know it.
I’m barely computer literate.
It’s been a few years ago since I read some wag who said elections are merely occasions for the parties to swap talking points.
“The cheap labor express promulgated by the elites to benefit their rich donor class squeezed the vast middle class beyond their tolerance limits.”
That is indeed what happened. Fake news and hollyweird depravity also deepened the winter of our discontent.
Outstanding. You’ll love it!
