What happened to baseball national anthem?
10/21/17 | kingcanuteus

I watched the pregame and beginning of the Yankees Astros game on TV last night and didn't see the national anthem. Was it actually performed or did the network (or the Astros) decide not to televise it?

As for me, until I see it performed, a radio broadcast is good enough for me.

I’m thinking that to avoid any controversy they’re not showing the opening anthem and pledge anymore. But then, I don’t watch what they’re not showing.

Fox announced the policy about a week ago. I thought it was going for NFL games only but it’s now apparent that it applies to any sport they televise and it’s a load of crap. The Leagues (or at least MLB) should do something about it.

I guess their intention is to kill all televised sports equally.

They figure they can BUY SOME TIME by never showing the anthem. If they do that, and ban people from bringing in cameras and cell phones, then the players can take all the knees they want, but no one will be able to prove anything.

...good luck with that plan, though.

Here is the NLCS game one playing of the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium last Saturday.

TV rarely shows the playing of the National Anthem at baseball games except for the World Series.

Well football is pretty much toast and Bball is not too far behind now with their antics. To me, Eternal Hell would be tied to a chair and being forced to watch a no-hitter Bball game or with Fball, re-runs of no gain plays with stupid color commentators describing what you’re seeing.

i’ve watched a lot of baseball games in my life. The national anthem is very rarely shown on tv. A lot of times its 10 minutes before the actual game starts, and the broadcast hasn’t started yet.

This won’t be a popular opinion, but i’m sort of over the whole national anthem obsession, especially with regards to baseball. One guy was kneeling, and his team didn’t even make the playoffs. If you’re going to stare at the screen looking for someone to kneel in the post season during the national anthem in baseball, you aren’t going to find anyone. So relax. And enjoy the game.

I watch every baseball game in October and have not seen anything different this year. If you feel it would be Eternal hell to watch baseball it does not sound like you are much of an observer much less a fan.

What antics are you referring to?

As for me, until I see it performed, a radio broadcast is good enough for me.

Local radio here in Houston was in commercial break when the Anthem started. When the commercials finished, the final parts of the Anthem were broadcast.

I don’t know what you are talking about. I like baseball and other then 1 guy taking a knee one time I’ve not seen any antics. What are you talking about?

The Fox Sports coverage of the ALCS has been absolute crap. Of course Joe Buck is the lead announcer. The Yankees bias is sickening.

I have mixed feelings because I’ve seen and heard many bad renditions of the anthem before baseball games. I’d rather not hear it than to hear someone screw it up.

>>heard many bad renditions

That is the truth.

The sad part is, our beautiful patriotic national songs and words are increasingly unknown to generations of children who were never exposed to them.

Many years ago, an older second grade teacher became aware of this, and tried her best to teach her own students many patriotic songs. But that was just her class and many years ago.

Now even more young Americans may never hear the national anthem. One more chunk of American culture hacked away.

The fact that the media is not showing the singing of the National Anthem or the Pledge of Allegiance. Then I also added my opinion of those two sports.

Asked and answered. Bball is boring which is why we don’t watch it. Sorry that if my opinion of a game that’s boring bothers you.

They used to show “God Bless America” during the 7th Inning Stretch.
