Apple removes popular pro-life prayer app after liberals complain

Apple banned a pro-life mobile application after abortion supporters complained, even though the app was approved and previously offered on its App Store.

Human Coalition (HC) created a mobile app that sends prayer alerts to intercessors and church groups.

“Human Coalition’s prayer app is a platform where pro-life advocates can gather together in prayer for abortion-determined women and their children and families,” HC’s public relations director Lauren Enriquez told LifeSiteNews. “Our supporters have found the app helpful in their mission to extend all forms of support, including prayer support, to the women and children we serve and rescue.”

The app, launched in 2014 for both Apple and Android phones, sends anonymous, real-time information about women who call crisis pregnancy centers considering abortion so that pro-lifers can pray for them.

One of the top five “Must-Have Pro-Life Apps” according to the American Life League, the HC app alerts prayer warriors with messages such as “pray for someone in Texas who just placed a call to inquire about abortion,” or “who scheduled an appointment with a Colorado pregnancy resource center.” The app suggests that Christians pray for women to keep pro-life appointments and to choose life for their baby.

Human Coalition culls anonymous information from its crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Raleigh, North Carolina, along with its connections at more than 30 CPCs across America. The app encourages intercessors with real-time results, noting how many people are praying using the app and how many women the user has prayed for that have chosen to give birth.

“Let’s pray our way to ending abortion in America,” the app’s web launch states.

Abortion activists took notice. In June and July, media attacks on Human Coalition exploded. The “hit pieces and podcasts” mocked the idea of praying for women considering abortion.

Saving human babies from death is intolerance, says the Left. When they start the civil war, remember that.

I had an old relative (dead over 20 years) whose dad always made them eat the apples with a bad spot first out of the apple bin. The relative said you end up never eating a good apple. Never forgot it.

Christians should put up huge stinks about the things the evil left get away with. They should be worn down by our objections. Too many Christians haven’t been objecting loud enough and often enough about their abject evil posing as “normal”. We shouldn’t allow the evil people to be so much more diligent and persistent than we are.

I’m a huge believer in the power of prayer. It’s cool to see that the opposition does too! Why else would they fight so hard to stifle it?

I’m sure their lawyers know it, but when the operating system companies (Google, Apple, and now MS) begin censuring the apps available in their “stores” they are opening up a can of worms.

There are long ongoing battle about who takes responsibility for “content” delivered to the consumer - the content provider or the “channel.”

Internet provides have been able to skate on this issue so far.

To date, the OS companies have claimed that they allow apps in the store based on security issues. When they take control based on “ideology” they run the risk of being responsible for ALL the behavior of the available apps.

They’re walking a fine line here. This is the legal path to avoid censorship of apps. I hope some aggressive lawyer challenges this.

This is NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. Apple pulls apps to check complaints all the time. . . especially when someone makes assertions such as this:
"Critical media also falsely claimed the HC app revealed women’s identities, even though no user is given any personal information. Despite 100 percent anonymity, the Slate’s Christina Cauterucci accused Human Coalition of violating people’s privacy.

Apple will pull any app that is accused of violating anyone's privacy and they will thoroughly check it for any such violations. If it is found to be not in violation, it will be restored to the App Store. However, they cannot and will not permit a violating app to remain on the App Store pending investigation. I suspect this app will be back up before too long. — PING!

This happens after most Apple launches - they have the supply chain ramp up to max capacity, then have them scale back once the supply line is full.

Much ado about nothing...again.
