I can see him saying this, especially if it was part of the conversation lauding his bravery and desire to do good. My family knows that I have signed up for this and that death could be a possibility. Trump’s whole point could have been about the soldiers bravery or service, but if you cherry pick parts of the conversation, you could probably make Trump sound like anything.
By the way, what does GMAB mean?
get me a beer.
Yes, I can see Trump saying that...in a true, caring way of course.
Frederica Wilson is a virulent Trump hater. She is the worst.
They sign up knowing they could die & that’s what makes them special. He knew what he was getting into & yet he was willing to die for his country. All those who enlist know this & they are indeed heroes. That’s how I took it.
Agree, I spoke with an 86 year old mother of a 1LT I had in RVN who was KIA a few months after I left the company. This was around 2001 or so. She was just glad to finally speak to one of us who knew him, especially a man who had been his CO when he arrived plus put her in touch with the top NCO who helped her also. I am sure someone could have picked out a few words of mine and twisted them into -”how
could he tell a mother that?”
Context. As in “He must have known what he was getting himself into” BUT HE DID IT ANYWAY BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE OF COUNTRY AND WILLINGNESS TO SACRIFICE.
Give me a break?
I can also see Trump saying this as a commendation of bravery. It would apply to a fireman running into a burning building or a policeman chasing a criminal.
The true bad behavior comes from the Democrat Congresswoman who "overheard" the private conversation and ran to the press with it.
